Drag and Drop parenting crashes Blender
Detailed description
Drag and drop parenting crashes recent builds of Blender (from builder.blender.org). This happens recreatable with many files but not with all of them. There are no crashes if one creates a new file.
In turn drag and drop works just fine if one opens these seemingly broken .blend files with the stable release Blender 2.63a from blender.org.

We'll need to know exact steps of reproducing the crash which i'm currently not sure about. Also you mentions some .blend files which i also can't see here.
Note, that we've got limitation of 5Mb files here, so if they're larger you might use pasteall.org to share .blend files which demonstrates the issue.
