Summary:
switching between orthographic and perspective can mess up zoom
Detailed description
Switching between orthographic and perspective views sometimes does this thing where the scroll wheel zoom amount is really really tiny, so the view no longer moves at all, and I end up having to use the view menu view selected, to get to the object. It doesn't always do this, seems like its depending on where the object is when I switch views.

Windows XP version 2.63, its a minor bug. I'm also not certain its from switching between the perspectives but I assume.

  • Hiya,

I've come across this before a fair few times. If I remember correctly; if you have the object selected, click "zero" on your number pad. This will zoom the view to the active object and focus on it. I think that clears it up.
This has crept up in a few past and present builds of Blender that I've used and I'm really not sure what's going on, but that should "fix" the issue when it arises, if I remember corectly. ;)

  • whoops!

I meant "period" on your numpad, not "zero". It's been a long day. Sorry! :P

  • One of possibilities of such issue is a precision issue of float datatype. That would be a known limitation which is tricky to solve. Aaron already mentioned s way to make viewport meaningful for you in case it's becoming messy.

This could also be (unlikely) caused by other issue, but it'll be difficult to say for sure without knowing exact steps how to reproduce the issue.

Thanks for the report, but currently there's nothing to fix here, only a known precision TODO.
