Detailed description

Using default 2.5 alpha 2 available from the blender.org website.

Running OSX 10.5.8 on a PPC G5 tower with an NVIDEA GeForce 6600

and a ubuntu 9.10 Intel Quad Core with a NVIDEA GeForce 8600 GTS

and I am getting the same result.

The compositing of the motion sample frames is drastically different when full sample anti-aliasing is selected. When it is unselected, it acts just like it did in 2.49b, but when it is selected the motion blur frames are not composited correctly. (I hope I am not reporting a feature.)

Render results and .blend files of each are attached. The only difference between the two files is that one has the full sample anti-aliasing checked. I have experienced the same thing on much more complex scenes, building and rendering files on both the ubuntu and the OSX system.

Who named old motion blur Full Sample Motion Blur?! It has nothing to do with FSA.
Old MBlur is not 'full sample' it is just a full frame render * amount of OSA steps.

There's no way currently that FSA and motion blur can work nicely together, so I disabled using them together. I also agree with Ton that "Full Sample Motion Blur" is quite misleading, so I renamed this as "Sampled Motion Blur". Closing the report.
