Summary:
Blender Crash during fluid bake - controller object culprit?
Detailed description
trying to bake a simple fluid sim - problem eliminated by removal of controller object.

The only thing unusual is that I am trying to test animating the controller object's strength.

confirmed by others on multiple platforms Win XP-32 bit and 7-64 bit and Linux on several 2.5 svns including latest trunk buil 29909

    No crash, here.
I am able to bake fluid simulation as is and with a clodes mesh as controller.

  • There have been a huge number fixes after you reported this. I can't get it to crash either, so please test again with a recent build and report back here.

  • I retested this and its working fine now

Only additional info - not sure its worth persuing, is that using surfaces for controllers shows some unexpected assymetry in x and y planes however using volumes its working fine now
    THANKS

  • Thanks for reporting back!

Hmm, I don't know enough about the actual algorithm used in the fluid simulation to comment on the "asymmetry", but to me this sounds like more an issue with the simulation settings than a bug. If you think it's a bug or the functionality has changed to worse at some point please open a new report for that.

    Closing the report.
