Collada: end bone zero size, mysterious extra empty
Detailed description
All objects in a simple blend file were exported to dae, and then reimported into a new Blender with all objects deleted. This should reproduce the original content. However, there were two important differences:
1. The end bone has zero size. IIRC, this also happens for bones with more than one child.
2. A mysterious new empty is created.

Tested with Blender 2.54 r32239 Windows XP 32 bit. I did not a more recent build with Collada.

I get this with the latest version of Blender (SVN r32863). Importing an armature exported from any number of sources (Poser, Maya, DAZ Studio, etc) all result in the "tip bones" being incredibly small in size and pointing forward (a default value?).
This is on OSX but I have had the same issue when running on Windows.

OSX 64 bit builds as well up to and including r33082
* The empty is assigned to the end bone as a custom shape. deleting it reveals the end bone but with a 90 degree rotation (all facing +Z in my case when they were parallel to xy plane when exported)
* The end bone length appears lightly shorter than the original before export/import as collada.
