Summary:
Adding the path to an image Editor in the file preferences window messes up the path
Detailed description
For example if I try to add GIMP as the image editor and go to the appropriate directory - when I push accept the image editor has this in the text bar:
//..\..\..\..\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.6.exe
when it should be C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.6.exe
I manually change it - but if left alone it won't work...
I'm running vista 32 bit...
This has been happening for a while...

You have relative path checked. Go to the User Prefs. File Settings, and uncheck Relative Paths.

Ah that fixes it. But shouldn't the image editor path be non-relative as default? I can understand why the other ones would default to relative - but image editor path doesn't seem to make a lot of sense... I could see a lot of new people to blender being confused as to this functionality...
