ctr-tab hotkey dont show "mesh select mode" menu for maya preset, but for default blender preset its ok. Reassign new hotkey for this menu dont cause result.
tested on all builds of version 2.55 for linux
2.54 is ok

Might well be a keymap conflict... and our keymap editing system is not really functional yet. Lots of todo items here :)
Anyway, since it has been added in a release, it should be supported. Matt, can you verify? It might be related to a new key using ctrl-tab...
