Summary:
crash-Fluids *RE-TEST NEEDED*
Detailed description
After you hit Bake and wait 2 seconds, you can play with the frames as it bakes.
If you play with the arrowkeys or the frame numbers or with the mouse in Timeline, you can see what has been and hasn't been simulated so far.
It works pretty good and fast, but if you play just at the limit of simulated and not-simulated frames, you'll see it inadvertently crashes after 7-15 seconds.
Supposedly you don't have to get within 2/3/4 frames of the limit, but I've tried 20/40 frames and it doesn't crash.

CAUTION: it only crashes at the baked/unbaked limit, give or take 2-4 frames.
It's been already tested on 2 computers (Win7 x64 and x86)

  • Did you test with an up to date SVN? Should have been fixed.

  • Pistol: I could get it to crash one time (32bit win xp), but not again. The crash happened with one thread in draw code and the other in fluid simulation code, and I kind of get the feeling this could be some thread safety issue. If you get constant crashes it would be great to get backtraces of a couple of crashes to see if it's crashing at a random location or somewhere similar each time.

  • Finally got this to crash semi-constantly on 64bit win 7 and just committed a possible fix, so please update to r34294 and test again to see if the problem is gone. At least for me there's no crash anymore (played at the limit of baked/unbaked through whole baking process).

  • Taking the silence as confirmation of the bug being fixed and closing the report!
