Summary:
Duplicating object with particles system on it make Blender crashs
Detailed description
Ubuntu Lucid 64 - Blender 2.55.1 33528
Simple to reproduce :
Open Blender > select the default cube > add a particle system on it
and now let's do some instances of it with
> Alt+D > put it with LMB and duplicate gain until Blender crash...A little randomly thing but blender will crash for sure.
More: if you try to save your blend file between each duplicate particles operation (because you need to go forward:) you rapidly obtain a file that you can't open anymore. You can append some objects from this last file but not all
: some particle objects seems to become unloadable and make blender crash.

Sebastien: Hmm, I do get the crash, but it's at a random location every time, so I assume some pointer goes wrong somewhere in the duplication. What I can't replicate is creating a blend file that crashes on load. I such a file could help a lot in figuring out this bug, so could you please attach a file (as simple as possible scene) that has been saved in a corrupted state?

Note that may be useful to know: Even after the first duplication I get an error "Memoryblock free: pointer not in memlist" printed to the console.

Oh thank you Davis, don't know how that slipped past me! That led me straight to the cause. Fix committed! Closing the report.
Note to Sebastien: The corrupted files probably can't be loaded even after this fix, but such corruption shouldn't happen with new files anymore.
