When I have a scene similar to the one attached blender crashes. The crash happens right after I add a new mesh and set the initial presets of the mesh via the tool shelf. This is not my own compiled version. This is the build right of Blender's website. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I have an Intel core 2 duo processor and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics card. This Bug happens in Blender 2.55 Beta.
To reproduce this bug, follow these steps:
1. Delete default cube.
2. Create a smoke simulation (of whatever type)
3. Run the animation by pressing ALT+A to let the simulator compute/Pause the simulation at some point (Don't USE ESC Key for this) and press the Jump to first frame button
4. Go back to the first frame of the animation
5. Press T to open Tool Shelf
6. Add a mesh (Do not do anything between this step and step 7)
7. Adjust one of the initial mesh settings (for a circle it would be vertices number)
Then Blender will crash
