Edge length display difficult to read

is there any chance of making the edge length display adjust color depending on the background? brown on brown isn't too readable, and changing materials to read edge length data etc. is annoying. Perhaps best would be either a) an automatic font color selection depending on the background, or b) a button next to the numericals checkboxes to select font size and color.

it will be good if this sizes' alpha will be driven by Zdepth. So I don't need to view underlaying edges' sizes in most cases. I think that color don't make sense.

made these colors theme-able and set better defaults r33799.
Moolah, using zdepth can be done but is too slow to be practice.

Thanks, for the fix... one comment: the Edge Angles are called Face Angles Text in the Themes... should probably make the naming here consistent. Thanks! --Nils

I have a while ago made my 3D-background lighter to improve the readability of the dimension-texts for edges, angles and faces. Campbell Barton reports here that he has made these text colors theme-able. I have indeed been able to make the color of face-dimensions blue instead of black. But I see no way in the Preferences-Themes to choose a color for edge- and angle-dimensions. Meanwhile I am on 2.56B since yesterday and found this thread perusing the "solved" items...
Added a "dimension.jpeg".
