Application freezes after create a cone and press Ctrl+R

Detailed description

Application freezes for a while when a cone is created, and then user press ctrl+R to create a new loop.
It´s impossible to create a new loop this way also.

O.S: Mac OS X 10.6.5
Blender version: 2.49 - 2.56

It doesn't freeze, it just doesnt show any highlighted preview of a loop.

The loopcut only works for quads...

I've added a print in header of 3d window to denote this mode, makes it more clear.

We can't fix this for subdividing triangle based models though, that's not how loops can be detected at the moment.
