Summary:
Custom frame rate drop down menu closes too easily [from r34489]
Detailed description
I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64bit r34534.

The problem is (as can be seen in the attached files as well), after you set the frame rate to "Custom", there is a 1 or 2 px gap between the dropdown button and the menu it produces, that causes the menu portion to close as you mouse over the gap between the widgets to pick an option. This happens while you are in custom mode and try to switch/use the dropdown.

I noticed that if you mouse over fast enough, the mouse can skip over the gap that is causing the menu to close, although it seems to happen more often than not for me.

lmg sounded like he was able to verify it, but zanqdo wasn't able to in his version.

  • I can't redo this either. Every menu has a small safety around it to prevent it to close too early.
Other preset buttons draw similar btw, like SSS presets.

  • I took a look at the SSS drop down menu as well as a few others. In every single case, I noticed that the menus always have a "safety" around it, _unless_ your mouse moves over top of another object. ie: If you open a menu and move the mouse a few pixels past the left or right (or botom) of the menu, but onto a grey background, the menu stays open. However, opening a menu and then moving the mouse left or right over another button or any widget, instantly closes the menu. This is exactly what I am seeing with the frame rate menu, but only when it goes into custom mode. Its like the old button is still there, causing the safety to be negated.

Now, I have considered the possibility that my install dir was cluttered with old py or something and perhaps might be why I was getting it and some were, so I wipped by install dir and ran make install again. I will try a make dist-clean too just to be sure. Can you think of any other thing that could cause my svn copy to be out of sync with regards to UI? I would be glad to try it, or share my cmake config perhaps.

  • I can't follow this anymore... you first said it closes with mouse over the gap between menu and button itself, and now it's moving left/right?

Note that with presets on "custom" there's no gap. I think you best just poke me in irc to carefully share info how to redo errors.

  • Confirmed behaviour, you have to zoom in on UI to see get the error.
Appears to be that the button behind menu gets a mouse-over activate, causing menu to close. I have to dig deeper in code to see how or why... will do tomorrow.
