Summary:
Disabling texture on halo material: renders OK but interface shows it wrong
Detailed description
Hi,

this an issue I've observed too in Blender 2.49 and previous. This is observed with a 2.56 build:

1. select default cube and create new material
2. set this material to halo.
3. create a texture for this material, say clouds, map to color and check RGB to intensity
4. the material preview shows a pink halo
5. disable the recently created texture through the checkbox in the texture context. Even it seems that uncheking the texture box inverts texture values instead than disabling the texture:
6. material preview remains showing a pink halo.
7. render the scene, the halo is white, so render is OK according to the disabled texture.

On Debian Lenny 5.0.8, Intel Core 2 Duo T 7500.
Other material modes than Halo seems to work ok.

  • Yes, indeed a very old bug. Fix goes to svn now.

One note: halo textures only support one "slot", but the UI allows to add many... this is not an easy fix unfortunately, this code has been made uniform on purpose.
Halos and shaders are scheduled to get a giant make-over for 2.6x anyway, so I rather stick to how it is now.
