Summary:
mirror mod. + armature mod. + rotated armature == wrong reference axis for moving verts (when mirror comes first)
Detailed description
1) Open file: crazyspace.blend
(simple file with a cube, a rotated armature, and armature + mirror modifiers, easy to rebuild from scratch)

2) move the selected verts in the Z axis
strange result - it's using a crazy axis as reference

3) Change modifiers order: Armature first and then Mirror
4) repeat (2):
good, things work as expected.

In (2) if you use "proportional editing" (press o) before picking the axis works too.
Strange bug, it seems to be using the armature object rotation on top of that?

Note: the axis is draw correctly, the problem is what happen when you grab the verts locking an axis.
Blender 2.5beta6a or current - SVN 35312

  • It's CRAZYspace -- unpredictability is everywhere ;)

Anyway, things should be much better in svn revr35331. Thanks for report!
