Summary:
x-mirror gives wrong results while editing hair particles
Detailed description
The x-mirror option for hair fails. The added hair-guide pair is equally aligned, but as moved the hair is not kept symmetric. Even so it isn't symmetric anymore it is treated as a mirrored, but moves in not in the same way.

I appended a simple example. The selected "vertice" is the tip of one of the guides. As you grab him (either G or Comp-Tool) its mirrored partner isn't following correctly. It follows to some point, but is not symmetric. Thats why i switched to top-view. Its easier to see as in 3D.

  • Ugh, this was a tough one, thanks for the report! It's now fixed in r35408. The problem was that the mirroring was designed to handle the problematic case of a subsurf modifier before the particles. This was working fine, but without a subsurf the mirroring was done wrong.
