Summary:
Particles leak through deforming quad mesh
Detailed description
Some particles leak through a deforming quad collision mesh. This does not happen with a triangle mesh.

To reproduce:
- Open the attached .blend file. It has a subdivided collision plane with a wave modifier applied to it.
- Start the animation.
- Look at it from the side - some particles will leak through, especially in the middle.
- Convert the faces in Collider to triangles.
- Start the animation again. This time, no particles will leak through the mesh.

Tested in Blender 2.56 r35623
Ubuntu 10.04
Intel Core i5 CPU U 430 (64-bit)

OpenGL

renderer: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series

  • I can imagine that when quads deform non-planar, collisions will fail for it... but Janne might have more info.

  • Fix committed in r35625, thanks for the report! I had optimized the collision checks in the new code a bit too much and as a result the "edges" that go through quads weren't checked at all.
