Summary:
Dots near alpha borders on textures
Detailed description
In 2.56 beta, black and white blotches appear near alpha edges in textures. This happens with or without subdivision surfaces, and with or without raytracing enabled. Ambient occlusion doesn't affect things either. It happens more at higher resolutions, but still occurs at PAL 4:3 resolution. The issue does not appear in 2.49.

I have included a 2.56 render and a 2.49 render for comparison, as well as a .blend file showing the issue. I tested on Mac OS X 10.6.4.

At first glance this issue looks similar to #20280 but it's not related to subdivision surfaces or raytracing.
