Summary:
Particle Render "Use Group Count" is shared between different Particle Settings datablocks
Detailed description
1) open the particle_group_u_count.blend file.
2) add a new particle system in the same object (with the + button)
3) change the settings of this PS to use the "PS A" previously created
4) click in the "datablock user count" to make it a unique PS
5) still in the particle settings go to [Render]->[User Count] and change the number of cylinders and cones.
6) go back to the "PS A" the original created particle and look at the Group counts.
They are the same !!!

While we are here ...
In the Group Count panel, when we click in the + button, shouldn't we increase the count?
Right now it's duplicating the entry for this object. Maybe it's me but I can't see how this would be useful.

Thanks Janne :)

  • Fix committed in r36054, thanks for the report!

The idea with duplicating entries in the list is that you can for example create different kinds of streams of objects easily. If you for example have a red and a blue object you can emit 2 red ones, then 3 blue ones, 4 red ones, 5 blue ones.. over and over again. Without the possibility to duplicate the entries you'd be forced to duplicate the objects themselves in the group.
