Blender crashes when opening this file
Detailed description
It's a animation I was working on, after one time it started to crash when opening it, but only sometimes so after few tries (dozen - when it had a bad day) I was able to work on it. But now it crashes every time!

I have Win7 64 bit, 4 core AMD processor, Radeon 5650, 2GB of memory - on the surface it looks like it could be sth with memory but there's more than 1GB free and the file is not that big. There's a warning in console about dependency cycle between kratos and conan (two models) through field collision, but I heard from developers on this very bug tracker that it shouldn't make it crash.

I tried both 32 and 64 bits of newest blender, as well as official 2.56 - same crash, and 2.49 - doesn't open, doesn't crash.


I'm not sure whether it has inside all the textures and references it needs - but how could I do that when I can't open it? In case you can't reproduce it, how can I debug it to see what's causing problem?

  • Looking into it, just a note that its possible to get corrupt blends that will crash blender (bad physicsal memory or corrupts on disk). so if the blend file is corrupt we normally don't attempt to load bad data.
