If you fix both of these issues, the shadow catcher ends up being almost perfect (I say almost perfect as indirect lighting isn't caught with the simple shadow catcher that you're using.

Improve UV unwrapping balance between angle and area preservation

Sadly, there is no such tool in the Blender, that can balance size of polygons, even on the UV or flat surface. So baking VDM become a pain.
