- allow RNA_property_enum_items to take the totitems int pointer as NULL (spares a loop on all the enum items). this change also makes enums types with no enum array crash in some places, could support these though Id rather disallow them, generating docs is a quick way to test for this.
- open recent file operator used and enum to open the recent file without an enum array, changed to an int type.
- added space_logic.py poll functions
* Added icon to property and enum property items. The latter is
responsible for the large number of files changed.
* For RNA functions, added PROP_RNAPTR flag to ask for a PointerRNA
as argument instead of a C pointer, instead of doing it implicitly
with the AnyType type.
* Material: properly wrap diffuse/specular param variables, and
rename some things for consistency.
* MaterialTextureSlot: added "enabled" property (ma->septex).
* Image: make animated property editable.
* Image Editor: make some things editable, notifiers, respect state.
* Context: fix issue with screen not being set as ID.
Search menu:
- Made nicer drawing for popup version of search. It now uses
entire backdrop like pulldowns.
Search boxes for text buttons will use different style still;
if we use this option all over it shouldn't look too intrusive.
- Search menu allows scroll, to view all items. It doesn't cycle
anymore.
- Click outside search menu now cancels
- If a match is in search button, it highlights it. This also
allows ALT+CTRL+F - Enter to redo last op.
- Search popup draws higher when no no space below. No order
flipping!
Bugfix: Icons were drawing on wrong subpixel positions, distorting
badly. Now it's crispy and tasty!
Noticed there's a magnifier icon already, using it for the search
option.
Further work on new "text search" button.
- Now allows to browse items (mouse, arrow key)
- Assigns active value
- Uses different backdrop to distinguish from popup menus
- Cleaned API for it, so it can be used nicely generic
Also added a search menu, which shows all currently working
operators: CTRL+ALT+F. (mind the looks, it needs some tweaks!)
To make a menu activating a button I've added a new event...
could use some tweaks.
Important note: the callback to pass on "old string" for text
button (bone rename) couldn't work yet, added first code for new
callback, but has to be worked on further. When bone rename gets
added it can be tested.
This includes a bunch of new object primitive icons
which would be great to get into the 'add object' menus,
they're not there yet. The specific lamp data type icons
are now used in the outliner though, which is very helpful.
- Added new popup menu type, which can be used to pass on a
running operator too. Needed it for debug menu, allowing to
set variables outside of operator "first do then tweak" system. :)
void uiPupBlockOperator()
Don't forget to tell invoke() return that operator now runs modal!
- Test menu: alt+ctrl+d gives the G.rt debug value.
Values of 0-16 now can be used to shrink areas, stuff like this
then happens (rt==4):
http://download.blender.org/institute/rt5.jpg
Was looking at ways to visually distinguish areas and regions
better. Yes I know, cute rounded corners, etc. Just testing!
* Fix buttons jumping around when resizing and zoom. Part of this was
adding a tiny a 0.001f offset in UI_view2d_view_ortho, otherwise the
rounding is unpredictable (used to be 0.375f, but that was disabled).
* Fix various issues with zooming, panning panels. V2D_LOCKOFS_X/Y is
now taken into account in more places in the view2d code, to avoid
zooming into the center or panning out of the view.
* Remove "Free" align mode in buttons window (it's not really useful).
* View3D/Graph/Image editors now use the same PanelType system as the
buttons window, means some deprecated panel code could be removed.
* Some small visual tweaks for panels.
* View 2D Reset operator (Home key), to reset zoom and panning for panels.
* Added argument to set number buttons as sliders (slider=True for itemR).
* Ignore labels for button alignment (doesn't look right).
* Fix some use of context.main in py scripts, should get data from active
object instead.
* Fix autotexspace -> auto_texspace in py script.
Brought back the "Ten Timer" test, a useful debugging utility
to keep track of drawing speed. Currently assigned like 2.4x to
ALT+CTRL+T
Added new option to also test speed of drawing entire Window.
* Buttons are now created first, and after that the layout is computed.
This means the layout engine now works at button level, and makes it
easier to write templates. Otherwise you had to store all info and
create the buttons later.
* Added interface_templates.c as a separate file to put templates in.
These can contain regular buttons, and can be put in a Free layout,
which means you can specify manual coordinates, but still get nested
correct inside other layouts.
* API was changed to allow better nesting. Previously items were added
in the last added layout specifier, i.e. one level up in the layout
hierarchy. This doesn't work well in always, so now when creating things
like rows or columns it always returns a layout which you have to add
the items in. All py scripts were updated to follow this.
* Computing the layout now goes in two passes, first estimating the
required width/height of all nested layouts, and then in the second
pass using the results of that to decide on the actual locations.
* Enum and array buttons now follow the direction of the layout, i.e.
they are vertical or horizontal depending if they are in a column or row.
* Color properties now get a color picker, and only get the additional
RGB sliders with Expand=True.
* File/directory string properties now get a button next to them for
opening the file browse, though this is not implemented yet.
* Layout items can now be aligned, set align=True when creating a column,
row, etc.
* Buttons now get a minimum width of one icon (avoids squashing icon
buttons).
* Moved some more space variables into Style.
* Headers and menus can now be created in python.
* Replaced the uiMenuItem functions to create menus with equivalent
uiItem functions using a layout, removing duplicated code.
* More uiItem functions are now exposed to python.
* The text editor header, panels and one of its menus are now created
in space_text.py.
* Buttons window data context icon new changes depending on active
object.
Issues
* Icons are not wrapped yet, hardcoded ints at the moment.
* The ID browse template is unfinished.
The Python API to define Panels and Operators is based on subclassing,
this makes that system more generic, and based on RNA. Hopefully that
will make it easy to make various parts of Blender more extensible.
* The system simply uses RNA properties and functions and marks them
with REGISTER to make them part of the type registration process.
Additionally, the struct must provide a register/unregister callback
to create/free the PanelType or similar.
* From the python side there were some small changes, mainly that
registration now goes trough bpy.types.register instead of
bpy.ui.addPanel.
* Only Panels have been wrapped this way now. Check rna_ui.c to see
how this code works. There's still some rough edges and possibilities
to make it cleaner, though it works without any manual python code.
* Started some docs here:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/RNATypeRegistration
* Also changed some RNA_property and RNA_struct functions to not
require a PointerRNA anymore, where they were not required (which
is actually the cause of most changed files).
More cleanup!
- removed old UI font completely, including from uiBeginBlock
- emboss hints for uiBlock only have three types now;
Regular, Pulldown, or "Nothing" (only icon/text)
- removed old font path from Userdef
- removed all old button theme hinting
- removed old "auto block" to merge buttons in groups
(was only in use for radiosity buttons)
And went over all warnings. One hooray for make giving clean output :)
Well, we need uniform definitions for warnings, so people at least fix
them... here's the real bad bugs I found:
- in mesh code, a call to editmesh mixed *em and *me
- in armature, ED_util.h was not included, so no warnings for wrong call
to ED_undo_push()
- The extern Py api .h was not included in the bpy_interface.c, showing
a several calls using different args.
Further just added the missing includes, and removed unused vars.
to WM_operator_menu for example, but popping up the redo menu. This is
useful for operators like particles rekey, which makes no sense without
specifying the number of keys.
Cleanup of saving code for Image window.
Little extra: added poll() check for buttons, greying out inactive
menu items or buttons. You can see it work in Image menu.
(Item 'save image' is grey when it wasn't saved, then you have to
use the 'save as' item).
Carefully designing poll checks is worth a trial once. :)
Do note that cpu time for polls should be totally minimal.
Several things in one commit; could not split this up easily,
one job invoked another, and so on. :)
- Added pulldowns for save/load .blend file in top bar.
- To enable "Save" without further popups (save over)
I've added a signaling function in window header to
indicate a succesful save.
- On any undo push it now signals 'file changed'. This
goes by notifiers nicely, but now registers only the
undopushes, which is quite unreliable. "Changed" state
shows in header as "Blender*" and for OSX with the
standard close button black dot.
- Made screencast show a button in top bar indicating such,
and allowing quit. No hotkey for quit yet... but ESC will
keep casting now.
- Fixed new BLF_init(), which should be in WM_init() and not
on any .B.blend read.
- Fixed CTRL+F3 "Save Screenshot", which was still using old
fileselect code.
Proper integration of File-selecting in WM. The communication
flow was flawed. :) Main problem was that filewindow can change
the screen context entirely, and should not do this directly on
a call inside an operator. Another problem was that the operator
ownership was handed over to SpaceFile, which is asking for
problems if you want to execute the operator with proper context
later on.
Solution is simple; window handlers already are valid owners of
operators and can manage context, so instead of directly talking
to the 'file space', you give the operator to a new handler this
way:
WM_event_add_fileselect(C, op);
This handler then listens to events (OPEN, EXEC, CANCEL) sent
by the WM or by the filewindow itself. This way local context
operators (like "open new image in imagewindow") will survive
a full-window fileselector fine, and in future also secondary
windows browsing files.
Two bugfixes included in this commit too:
- Add sequence menus in Sequencer used wrong context.
- When handler executes operators, it sets stored context now
by first checking if this is still valid.
* User interface uses this as a tooltip when NULL or "" is given.
* Python doc generation includes this description
* Python defined ops take the description as an argument.
* NULL check to image_ops.c, was crashing on exit when there was an image open.
Added CTRL+W save Blender file.
It's the first user of the uiPupMenuSaveOver() function,
which I've recoded to accept an operator pointer.
This is required because the operator property 'filename'
has to be set to work. Other 'save over' users will
require running operators too I guess.
Scene browse button now works.
Note that animsys currently executes animation for the entire
database, so multiple scenes in multiple windows don't work yet.
Various fixes:
- crash on invoking filewindow when mouse outside (active) window
- removed obsolete error prints (set screen error, copy data error)
- displist fix for loading files with curve/nurbs, the select-outline
then didnt draw immediately.
- outliner allows scene activating
- Node editor: link cut back, now under ALT+LMB, to prevent
accidents. Note it now nicely intersects the real curved
noodles with a line you draw!
- To make above work, replaced ogl curve draw with own bezier
code.
- Added new WM standard operator callback for lines-gesture,
the Lasso gesture now draws a closed line.
- Both callbacks have optional property 'cursor' to make it
give modal info. For future also linestyle or color can be
defined.
- Changed 'pin' icon in Image header to something that looks
less scary... but there's no pin icon yet?
- Added back CTRL+X "reload start-up file".
(Original name 'erase all' is a bit misleading, but we can
go over all naming conventions later :)
- Added memfree for triple buffer data.
* I've had to remap 'Duplicate window' to Ctrl Alt W instead...
* Fixed some bugs with armature context iterators for X-Axis Mirroring. Now, the code there checks for mirrored bones in the right way.
For details on how to write tools that need to cope with this option, refer to the 'Align Bones' operator. I'll port another simple operator as another good example soon.
Additional notes:
Currently, armature_sync_selection() is really buggy (not part of this commit), and needs further attention.
* Changed uiPupMenuOperator usage to uiPupMenuBegin/End (simpler,
no need to build a string). Also made transform orientation and
subdiv type enums instead of ints for this.
* Added an icon argument to many of the uiMenu calls, and added a
uiMenuItemIntO.
* Move auto rna button creation out of outliner code, now is
uiDefAutoButR for individual buttons and uiDefAutoButsRNA for a
whole block.
* Implemented uiPupBlock(O). Pressing F6 gives a menu with the
properties of the last operator to test. I tried to make a redo
last operator out of this but couldn't get the context correct
for the operator to repeat in. Further the popup block also has
some issues getting closed while editing buttons.
* Fix uiAfterFunc memory leak on Ctrl+Q quit.
* Fix handling of RNA number button dragging and sliding for RNA
buttons with range -inf/inf.
Sanitized the 'tweak' event.
Original idea was to have WM event system generating it
automatically. However, I first tested it via a handler
and operator, to check what kind of configurations would
be useful. It appeared to not work nice, also because
that inserting a tweak operator in a keymap is confusing.
Now 'tweaks' are generated automatically, and can be
catched by keymaps as any event. The current definition
of tweak is:
- if Left/Middle/Rightmouse pressed
if event wasn't handled by window queue (modal handlers)
start checking mousepositions
- while mousepositions are checked
- escape on any event other than mouse
- on mouse events:
- add tweak event if mousemove > 10 pixels
- stop checking for tweak if mousebutton released
- Tweak events have a define indicating mousebutton used
EVT_TWEAK_L, EVT_TWEAK_M, EVT_TWEAK_R
- In keymap definitions you can use _S or _A to map to
action or select mouse userdef.
- Event value in keymap should be KM_ANY for all tweaks,
or use one of the eight directions:
EVT_GESTURE_E, _SE, _S, _SW, _W, _NW, _N, _NE
- And of course you can add modifier checks in keymaps for it.
- Because tweaks are a result of mouse events, the handlers get
both to evaluate. That means that RMB-select + tweak will work
correctly.
In case you don't want both to be handled, for example the
CTRL+LMB 'extrude' and CTRL+LMB-tweak 'lasso select', you will
need to set the first acting on a EVT_RELEASE, this event only
gets passed on when tweak fails.
The current system allows all options, configurable, we had in 2.48,
and many more! A diagram of what's possible is on the todo. :)
Also in this commit: lasso select editmesh failed with 'zbuffer
occluded select'. Also circle-select failed.
- Renamed MESH_OT_mesh_selection_mode_menu to MESH_OT_mesh_selection_type since the operator doesnt have to be accessed from a menu.
Shaul, you might want to look over this, using enums means WM_menu_invoke can be used instead of writing an invoke function for each operator.
Added error messages to WM_menu_invoke if no enum "type" property is found.
Big commit, but mainly adminstration.
- Enabled ot->flag OPTYPE_UNDO to work.
- Removed all redundant ED_undo_pushes, but I'd
recommend everyone to check it while testing. :)
- Added view manipulations as OPTYPE_REGISTER,
although this will flood the redo stack a bit...
Nevertheless; for a "redo last action" panel we
can simply check if both flags are set for redo.
- Bugfix in editmode undo: selectmode was cleared,
so you couldn't select after undo
- Bugfix in mixing tweaks and keymaps... solution
works but is weak, need to think over a while.
Edit Mesh:
- Added back "Edge Shortest Path select"
It now also does regular selection, more fun!
It's mapped to CTRL+click now, and makes or clears selections
between current and previously activated edge.
Seam/Sharp/etc marking is a toolsetting mode still. These
options cannot become properties easily, because the tool
uses the properties of selected edge to clear...
- Removed a whole bunch of G.f flags, related to mesh drawing.
It's all now local in me->drawflags. Here's the list of
removed old globals:
G_DRAWEDGES
G_DRAWFACES
G_DRAWNORMALS
G_DRAW_VNORMALS
G_ALLEDGES
G_HIDDENEDGES
G_DRAWCREASES
G_DRAWSEAMS
G_DRAWSHARP
G_DRAWBWEIGHTS
G_DRAW_EDGELEN
G_DRAW_FACEAREA
G_DRAW_EDGEANG
- Edit mesh: Add ctrl+click add vertex or extrude.
I've made it not move the 3d cursor in that case.
Also found out tweak events conflicted with existing
keymap definitions; on tweak failure (= no mousemove)
it now passes on the mouse event as 'mouse down' for
the remaining keymaps to check.
These then actually respond to mouse-up instead of down...
The location in the keymaps where tweaks get generated
remains important. Examples:
1 - 'select' mouse-handler, operator return pass-through
2 - tweak handler checks, and makes tweak event
3 - grabber responds to tweak event
1 - ctrl+mouse tweak handler checks, makes tweak event,
or passes event on
2 - if tweak event, it runs lasso
3 - else when passed on, ctrl+click extrude happens
In the first case, select works on mouse-down, immediate.
In the second case, extrude happens on mouse-release, even
though the keymap defined mouse-press.
This will make designing nice balanced keymaps still not
simple; especially because you can't tell operators to
pass on the key... although we can add the convention that
select-mouse operators always pass on to enable tweaks.
Still a good reason to wait with custom keymaps
when this is fully settled!
* Cleaned up UI_interface.h a bit, and added some comments to
organize things a bit and indicate what should be used when.
* uiMenu* functions can now be used to create menus for headers
too, this is done with a uiDefMenuBut, which takes a pointer
to a uiMenuCreateFunc, that will then call uiMenu* functions.
* Renamed uiMenuBegin/End to uiPupMenuBegin/End, as these are
specific to making popup menus. Will convert the other
conformation popup menu functions to use this too so we can
remove some code.
* Extended uiMenu functions, now there is is also:
BooleanO, FloatO, BooleanR, EnumR, LevelEnumR, Separator.
* Converted image window headers to use uiMenu functions, simplifies
menu code further here. Did not remove the uiDefMenu functions as
they are used in sequencer/view3d in some places now (will fix).
* Also tried to simplify and fix bounds computation a bit better
for popup menus. It tried to find out in advance what the size
of the menu was but this is difficult with keymap strings in
there, now uiPopupBoundsBlock can figure this out afterwards and
ensure the popup is within the window bounds. Will convert some
other functions to use this too.
Some drawing tweaks for animsys:
- added notifier ND_KEYS type, to send proper notes around.
now insert-key redraws fcurve/action view
- made slider-draggers disappear when view is total or bigger.
Also experimented with making sliders go away entirely, but
this conflicts too much with current code for channel lists.
Ali: I think you have to make call that calculates the 'tot'
for channels, and run this in region listener, including the
totRect update for view2d.
The 'minsize' for channels also fails when there's a slider,
it always doesn't fit then :)
Filewindow: restored some usability issues :)
(Andrea: Hope you're OK, I needed to test stuff, and
file open was a pain!)
- F1: shows last saved/opened file now
- Enter key loads, ESC cancels
- Hilites on mousemove now show same theme colors as before
- Enabled intended roundbox draw (was added to UI api)
- Tweaked roundbox hilites to nicely surround text
- Text was drawing too close to collumn dividers
- Brought back missing glDisable(GL_BLEND), messed with draw
- On file-open, mouse position is used to show active file
It opens the files selector if "filename" property has not been set, else it executes the operator directly. Brecht, you might want to check, currently only sequencer add operators use it.
* Added back Effects menu back, replaced SEQUENCER_OT_add_color_strip with SEQUENCER_OT_add_effect_strip.
* Made sequencer header use operator UI functions.
* gcc complains when char's are used as array indicies when they are not explicitly signed/unsigned, corrected previous change for vpaint to silence this error.
* make MSVC happy. M_PI is defined for MSVC, but these constants are available only after
doing #define _USE_MATH_DEFINES before including math.h.
Good to remember for in the future (no need to define our own M_PI's).
* Added a rotation setting to brush (and brush RNA)
* Brought back strength and rotation modes for radial control
* Brought back brush texture for radial control
* Turned off display of sculpt brush during radial control operator
Notes:
* So far, only size mode ported and tested, still strength and rotation to do
* Brought this back for sculptmode first, still to do are particle edit, vpaint, wpaint, texpaint, and I guess image paint?
* Changed the wm paint cursor slightly, to take a customdata pointer.
* Still need to bring back brush texture display in the cursor
- Brought back code for particle edit and fluidsim
- Sanitized code from globals and bad level calls,
so its ready to come back working.
- Fixed cirle selecting (Ckey now)
- Enabled undo for editmode curve, armature, particle
and lattice
(another commit following)
* Triple Buffer is now more complete:
- Proper handling of window resize, duplicate, etc.
- It now uses 3x3 textures (or less) if the power of two sizes
do not match well. That still has a worst case wast of 23.4%,
but better than 300%.
- It can also use the ARB/NV/EXT_texture_rectangle extension
now, which may be supported on hardware that does not support
ARB_texture_non_power_of_two.
- Gesture, menu and brushe redraws now require no redraws at all
from the area regions. So even on a high poly scene just moving
the paint cursor or opening a menu should be fast.
* Testing can be done by setting the "Window Draw Method" in the
User Preferences in the outliner. "Overlap" is still default,
since "Triple Buffer" has not been tested on computers other than
mine, would like to avoid crashing Blender on startup in case
there is a common bug, but it's ready for testing now.
- For reference "Full" draws the full window each time.
- "Triple Buffer" should work for both swap copy and swap exchange
systems, the latter still need the -E command line option for
"Overlap".
- Resizing and going fullscreen still gives flicker here but no
more than "Full" drawing.
* Partial Redraw was added. ED_region_tag_redraw_partial takes a
rect in window coordinates to define a subarea of the region.
On region draw it will then set glScissor to a smaller area, and
ar->drawrct will always be set to either the partial or full
window rect. The latter can then be used for clipping in the 3D
view or clipping interface drawing. Neither is implemented yet.
Added WM Jobs manager
- WM can manage threaded jobs for you; just provide a couple
of components to get it work:
- customdata, free callback for it
- timer step, notifier code
- start callback, update callback
- Once started, each job runs an own timer, and will for
every time step check necessary updates, or close the
job when ready.
- No drawing happens in jobs, that's for notifiers!
- Every job stores an owner pointer, and based on this owner
it will prevent multiple jobs to enter the stack.
Instead it will re-use a running job, signal it to stop
and allow caller to re-initialize it even.
- Check new wm_jobs.c for more explanation. Jobs API is still
under construction.
Fun: BLI_addtail(&wm->jobs, steve); :)
Put Node shader previews back using wmJobs
- Preview calculating is now fully threaded (1 thread still)
- Thanks to new event system + notifiers, you can see
previews update even while dragging sliders!
- Currently it only starts when you change a node setting.
Warning: the thread render shares Node data, so don't delete
nodes while it renders! This topic is on the todo to make safe.
Also:
- bug in region initialize (do_versions) showed channel list in
node editor wrong.
- flagged the channel list 'hidden' now, it was really in the
way! This is for later to work on anyway.
- recoded Render API callbacks so it gets handlers passed on,
no globals to use anymore, remember?
- previewrender code gets now so much nicer! Will remove a lot
of stuff from code soon.
cleaned up selection code
new operators:
- highlight file under cursor
- select all/nothing (AKEY)
- border select (BKEY)
changed selection to be invoked by LEFTMOUSE
