b4d46e5ded UI: Layout Engine
* Buttons are now created first, and after that the layout is computed.
  This means the layout engine now works at button level, and makes it
  easier to write templates. Otherwise you had to store all info and
  create the buttons later.
* Added interface_templates.c as a separate file to put templates in.
  These can contain regular buttons, and can be put in a Free layout,
  which means you can specify manual coordinates, but still get nested
  correct inside other layouts.

* API was changed to allow better nesting. Previously items were added
  in the last added layout specifier, i.e. one level up in the layout
  hierarchy. This doesn't work well in always, so now when creating things
  like rows or columns it always returns a layout which you have to add
  the items in. All py scripts were updated to follow this.

* Computing the layout now goes in two passes, first estimating the
  required width/height of all nested layouts, and then in the second
  pass using the results of that to decide on the actual locations.

* Enum and array buttons now follow the direction of the layout, i.e.
  they are vertical or horizontal depending if they are in a column or row.
* Color properties now get a color picker, and only get the additional
  RGB sliders with Expand=True.
* File/directory string properties now get a button next to them for
  opening the file browse, though this is not implemented yet.
* Layout items can now be aligned, set align=True when creating a column,
  row, etc.
* Buttons now get a minimum width of one icon (avoids squashing icon
  buttons).

* Moved some more space variables into Style.

792449f8f0 2.5 - Restored access to the Image-Type setting
This has been wrapped under Scene.RenderData, and can currently be accessed under the 'Image' panel in the Scene settings. 

As in the old code, image types are only included if they are enabled when compiling. Also note that image-type specific settings have not been wrapped yet.

58cdd37f52 UI:
* Made separator item work horizontal & vertical.

* Added space variables to uiStyle and use them in the
  layout engine.

* Added some code for modifiers in the Object Data context.
  This will become a template though.
* Use a common poll() callback in the scripts to reduce code.

fe33fb23d9 UI:
* Added support for RNA pointer buttons. It's like the existing
  ID pointer buttons but with an icon, and autocomplete works.
  There's some drawing issues currently but don't want to
  interfere with the refactoring here. Also todo is support for
  things like vertex groups or bones.

9b7f44ceb5 UI:
* Added support for soft/hard range in the buttons code. Currently
  it works by only allowing to drag or click increment in the soft
  range, but typing a number value allows to go outside it.

  If the number is outside the soft range, the range will be extended,
  rounded to values like:
  .., 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0, 50.0, ..

0fd155f78e * fun 2.5 UI commit from seoul airport!
A few UI goodies from on the plane:
- fixed the sliders for non-rounded themes
- Made properties with rna subtype of 'percentage' automatically display a '%' 
character *after* the numerical value, where it belongs. It would also be really great 
to add a ° - degree symbol after angle and perhaps rotation subtypes. This works 
fine with international fonts but not with oldskool bitmap fonts (not part of ascii). I 
wonder if there's a way to get around this?
- Added nice embossing effects on buttons, labels and pulldowns (there you go, brecht :)
- and cooler looking tooltips

And did some work on the file browser. Andrea, I hope this is ok, let me know if 
there are problems and I can work on fixing it up :)
- added some new icons for file types, that are now shown in list view.
icon designers, please feel free to update and make nicer ones!
- tweaked the default colour theme and did some graphical fiddling to make the 
various views look nicer
- rearranged the buttons on the header and swapped the 'P' button for an up arrow 
button, this needs a nicer icon too.
- added outliner style alternating bands to the list view to see info grouping better. 
This has a small prob in columns view though, can fix that.

284db61572 RNA: C API
* RNA_blender.h is now generated along with the other files. It is not
  used anywhere yet, and still located quite hidden next to the other
  rna_*_gen.c files. Read only access for now.
* Inherited properties are not copied from the base anymore but
  iterated over. Patch by Vekoon, thanks!
* Array get/set callbacks now do the whole array instead of getting an
  index. This is needed for some layers for example so python can set
  the array as a whole, otherwise the check that one layer has to be
  enabled at all times gets in the way. Also nicer for the C API.
* Also some changes to returning pointers to make the API cleaner, got
  rid of the type() callback and instead let get() return PointerRNA
  with the type included.

The C API looks like this currently:

* Renamed "parent" struct property to "nested", and also remaining "from"
  usage to "base".
* Added a NEVER_NULL subtype for pointers and use it for all properties
  that apply.
* Make sure all structs have a description, and fix any other DOC_BROKEN
  descriptions, also many other naming consistency improvements.

* Object has some more properties wrapped, mostly game related.
* Scene frame changes now send a notifier.
* Added functions to create/free operator properties for calling
  operators. This also simplifies some duplicated code that did
  this. Ideally though this kind of thing should use the properties
  pointer provided by buttons and keymap items. Example code:

04428d6750 added "description" and "readonly" properties to RNA Structs (also accessible via python)
Many descriptions are not written, grep for DOC_BROKEN if you have some spare time to write struct descriptions.

3c0c5e04bb RNA - Finished wrapping Armatures + Bones
Notes: 
- I'm not sure whether we want to move out the PoseMode hide flags from here, but PoseChannels directly get most of their flags from here.
- Some of the settings for Bones have not been exposed, as they are mostly internal flags or used only by transform
- I'm not sure whether we should be exposing EditMode settings like head/tail/roll directly here...

* Added a function to define booleans negative, to turn negative
  properties into positive ones gettin rid of the no_ prefix, and
  also got rid of the use_ prefix for two booleans.
* Also made the function for enum bitflags separate, this is quite
  rare so don't need to bother with this in most cases.
* Removed svn:executable flags from some files.

  some #defines in the radiosity DNA since it was using hardcoded
  values.
* Added an "UnknownType" which has no properties, useful as a
  placeholder for pointers that have no defined type yet.
* Sort a few lists in the code alphabetically.

* Wrap most user editable data in DNA_mesh_types.h and DNA_meshdata_types.h.
  Still needs to be improved in some areas though, especially how to deal
  with data layers (expose per element or as array, or both?), and data in
  face corners (bmesh type data structures are more logical here).

Tweaks to RNA defining to make some cases easier:
* Added range callback function for int/float.
* Added 'skip' callback for listbase and array iterators to skip items in
  the collection.
* Extra error print when calling wrong define_property_*_sdna functions.
* Also made button code respect non_editable flag, is quick change though,
  need to add support for properly graying out etc.

* More ID property support. What was already possible was showing
  ID properties as RNA properties. Now it is possible to define
  RNA properties and have an ID property automatically created the
  first time it is set (if not set it retuns the default).

* Added support for defining RNA structs and properties at runtime.
  This is useful for python and plugins, and could also be used
  for operators, not sure yet what is best there, they could be done
  in preprocess for speed, but not sure how to do that while keeping
  operator registration a single function.

* Added quick functions to get/set properties based on names, to be
  used for operators.

* Added some simple support for inheritance, was already doing this
  but having it as a feature simplifies things. Two things were added
  for this: when defining a struct you can give a 'from' struct whose
  properties will be copied, and structs like ID, operator, modifier,
  can define a refine callback that will return the more specific type
  of the struct like ID -> Object, Mesh, .. .

* Added simple windowmanager wrap with only the registered operators
  list, used for testing RNA for operators.

* Added more error prints for wrong definitions, for cases that
  would laters cause problems compiling or crash at runtime, and
  also made messages more clear.
* Added some skeleton code for main/ID/mesh/vertex types for testing.
* Added support for automatic arrays as collections using SDNA.

* Changed how pointers to data work. Now they are always wrapped
  in a PointerRNA struct, which contains the data pointer and type,
  and also the data pointer and type of the ID datablock that this
  belongs to, since for example a vertex on it's own may not have
  enough information for some operations, it also needs the mesh.

* Added some code for defining dependencies with RNA, and looking up
  data with paths like: scenes[0].objects["Cube"].data.verts[7].co.
  Note sure either will end up being used, this is experimental.

7f24dbe5fc RNA / Data API
This is the first code for the Data API, also known as RNA system in the
2.5 Branch. It does not include a user interface, and only wraps some
Scene properties for testing. It is integrated with Scons and Makefiles,
and compiles a 'makesrna' program that generates an RNA.c file.

The changes are quite local, basically adding a makesrna module which
works similar to the makesdna module. The one external change is in
moving genfile.c from blenloader to the makesdna module, so that it can
be reused by the RNA code. This also meant changing the DNA makefiles.
It seems to be doing dependencies correct still in my tests, but if
there is an issue with the DNA not being rebuilt this commit might be
the one causing it. Also it seems for scons the makesdna and makesrna
modules are compiling without warnings. Not a new issue but this should
be fixed.

The RNA code supports all types as defined in the Data API design, so
in that sense it is fairly complete and I hope that aspect will not
have to change much. Some obviously missing parts are context related
code, notify() functions for updates and user defined / ID properties.
