Thanks for the report. Does this happen when you run blender from
blender_factory_startup.cmd
?Added subscriber: @ahmet02300
I have never used blender_factory_startup.cmd and dont know what and how to use that. I just double click it or right click and run as administrator to start blender.
@GKPrasad, you can find
blender_factory_startup.cmd
in the same directory where blender.exe is located(for example:
C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 3.2
)Running blender through this batch file loads blender with default settings
how long will it take to fix it?
Ill check it out?
I tried with blender_factory_startup.cmd . It has got the same error. no toolbars and icons are displaying. Its just black everywhere.
Added subscriber: @LazyDodo
Looks like a blender .zip install that was unproperly unpacked, the logs created by
blender_factory_startup.cmd
could probably be used to confirm, please attach themWhen I unpack blender file from https://www.blender.org/download/ and install it I am able to see blender_factory_startup.cmd already. I double clickedblender_factory_startup.cmd to run and i see the same error. I dont understand the concept of attaching them separately. Please explain.
can u please fix the issue ASAP. I am really working a lot of projects to learn a lot from blender as a beginner. this is definitely stopping the learning process.
I'm in the same situation too. I can't do anything for days
Ohh!! I thought it was happening just on my PC. not able to see any tutorials on youtube based on this. if u ever come across any solution, please do let me know.

Thanks for the file. Is this happening since 3.2 installation?
or started to happen after AMD's optional driver(22.7.1) update?: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-7-1
Off topic but these optional drivers has already affected viewport drawing: #100034 (Glitches with new AMD drivers (Adrenalin 22.7.1 or 22.8.2) when overlay has transparent images)
I think after the update of amd. also after 3.2 coincidentally updated both very recently. not sure. so what could be the possible fix?
I reinstalled previous amd driver 22. 5 and it fixed. Ty for help
Also blender does not recognise my AMD RX 480 GPU for rendering. Are there any plugins which help blender use AMD gpus?
Changed status from 'Needs User Info' to: 'Needs Developer To Reproduce'
Added subscriber: @mano-wii
Seems newer drivers are responsible then. Not sure how to proceed in such case
@mano-wii, have you experienced similar issue?
There is a conflict between the information provided in the
blender_system_info.txt
and the report.One says
Radeon RX 580 Series
and the other saysamd rx 480
.There is something wrong there, if AMD's Auto-Detect is installing the wrong divers, I recommend trying to manually install the driver for the corresponding GPU.
Thanks. This solved the problem but does it mean that AMD updates wont support blender? not sure
Changed status from 'Needs Developer To Reproduce' to: 'Needs User Info'
Looking at the automatic recommendations of AMD driver version 22.5.1 should be used.
22.7.1 is not the preferred one.
Anyway I installed
22.7.1
and the problem did not appear. So I suspect that something led to the installation of a wrong driver in both cases reported (especially with the conflicting information in the system.txt).
Make sure you install the drivers for RX 480:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-400-series/radeon-rx-400-series/radeon-rx-480

I have the same issue since update to AMD Adrinalin 22.7.1 with Blender 3.2.1 and also with Blender 3.2.2 I tried yesterday.
If I donwgrade the AMD driver back to Adrinalin 22.6.1 the issue is gone.
But I have an AMD RX 5600 (XFX Radeon RX 5600 XT Thicc III Ultra) and not a RX 480

I done it with AMD Adrenalin 22.6.1 and AMD Adrenalin 22.7.1. The issue persist also if I start Blender with blender_factory_startup.cmd
Added subscriber: @patrickshyee
Also, if I open any window like the "User Preference" or "Open file..." windows, the content inside the window is off like it is having trouble refreshing itself. I ran the suggestion .cmd executables

Same with AMD's new BETA driver Adrenalin 22.8.1.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-8-1
Added subscriber: @L0Lock
Not an expert, but if you are having issues after a GPU update, I don't think that's a coincidence. Now, maybe your current GPU's driver happen to have some sort of bug, but maybe the issue comes from the installation instead: the wrong driver for your hardware, corrupted files/reg, stale files/reg from previous installations and whatnot. That's why it is good practice to perform a "clean" reinstallation when encountering issues that may be related to graphics driver.
And in that purpose it is highly suggested to NOT use any kind of automated solution that's supposed to auto-detect what driver you need, even from the manufacturer, and go yourself download the driver you need for your specific hardware on either AMD or Nvidia's websites.
If you don't know how to perform a clean driver installation, here's a decent guide for windows: How To - How to perform a CLEAN install of your video card drivers. | Tom's Hardware Forum
@Loïc DAUTRY (-L0Lock-)
This was already done by me. And if I reinstall the driver from AMD Adrenalin 22.6.1, as clean installation or simply installed over the current 22.7.1 or 22.8.1 version, every thing works fine again.
But I know that AMD done changes with OpenGL, because in the release note from 22.7.1 (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-7-1) you can read:
OpenGL® Optimizations
And in the release note from 22.8.1 (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-8-1):
Important Notes
And the toolbars in Blender use OpenGL, if I am not wrong.

I am on Windows 11 and I have this issue.
Same issue here again after the update. It seems like any AMD update is not gonna be compatible with blender.
Added subscriber: @Jeroen-Bakker
I tried to debug this issue, but wasn’t successful. It fails with a null pointer exception inside the driver during startup. Will try to debug more next week.
Looking at the issues we might need to blacklist these drivers. Has anyone tried to run with gpu workarounds enabled?

Was progressing a lot with blender and now because of this error the whole process has been put on hold. "Team blender" please fix this ASAP.
Any Updates about this issue?
None of the developers to my knowledge have been able to reproduce the issue. This makes it hard to do the right thing. So far no progress has been made. Personally I’m occupied with other driver issues and haven’t been able to spent time researching this one further.
Nonetheless we think this is a real issue, just don’t have free resources to make this a priority right now.

@Jeroen-Bakker:
Thanks for the feedback and short update. We all looking forward if this issue is solved.
Also an issue on 22.9.1

K seems to work with 22.9.2 (Maybe cause I used DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller)) but now my browser constantly flashes black

bruh
Can you elaborate? How to use DDU?
Can I ask you to remove me from subscribers on this? I just pointed to a duplicate and was merged along with the author of the report.
Removed subscriber: @mod_moder
You select device type(GPU)

It will autofill for your current gpu
and click clean and restart
Then reinstall your gpu drivers from amd's website
I can confirm the display driver uninstaller actually fixes the problem!!! Thank you so much 😭!!
Before actually running the ddu application, I recommend putting your computer into safe mode and restart it just in case something does go wrong.
finally worked. thanks mate
DDU solved at the moment also for me this issue. But we will see how it will be, after next update from AMD. And finally, nobody knows why this happen to some users.
Added subscriber: @By_Arya

Unfortunately, DDU did not solve this issue for me. After reinstalling 22.9.2. for RX5700XT the Blender UI is still black
Issue is present again after the update to Adrenalin Edition 22.10.1.
It can't be the solution to do everytime a complete uninstall of drivers and settings with DDU.
Added subscriber: @Lt_Lasagna
If the issue is related to the installer of the driver, it doesn’t seem that we can influence it from the blender codebase. I am going to inform AMD about this topic. Hope they can solve it.
Mark it as a known issue as it hasn’t been confirmed to be a bug inside Blender.

This bug happens with me as well: Blender 3.3 with 22.10.3 Driver. 5700XT AMD card. :(
Added subscriber: @Soy55
Find the real culprit. you absolutely need have MSAA set as "Use appliccation settting" in the AMD driver. reverted to 22.11.1 and it work.
I can confirm the statement @Soy55, because I tested it after his hint.
The issue is solved, if the AMD driver use for MSAA the option "application settings" or "expand application settings". This works on the fly and Blender needs just a restart.

Interesting. Blender doesn't use MSAA, so perhaps the AMD driver expect Blender to tell them that we don't use it... I will check with their engineers.
