Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 520.56.06

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.3.1, branch: makepkg (modified), commit date: 2022-10-04 18:35, hash: b292cfe5a9
Worked: (?)

Short description of error
Hi.
The denim preset is not translated, I made a research and in México, Colombia, Argentina, España and Perú is called "Mezclilla". Should be "Mezclilla"
image.png

Also
In the object properties and object data properties (armature)...
Visualizacion en vistas is a cacophony and maybe a pleonasm (like view in views or something like that), maybe "Mostrar en vistas" or "A mostrar en vistas" could be better.

Thank you!!

Hi @Confabulatori

Denim
I admit two things with regard to that word:

  • I'm not an expert in textiles, fabrics and the like.
  • I've never ever heard the word Mezclilla up until you mentioned it.

The two most common words that I did hear for that were Jean and Denim (both non Spanish words), so I initially chose to leave it as the original string was. (Also Vaquero is a known word to me, but mostly applied to the pants themselves, not the fabric).

That said, if Mezclilla, is really the most popular word for that kind of fabric in most regions, I would please need some verifiable evidence of that and I would change it without hesitation.

Well, to be honest I don't like "Visualización en vistas" that much either, but "Mostrar en vistas" is not suitable (as the text is not a command action, it shouldn't include a verb in infinitive). "A mostrar en vistas" is just a variation of the former. "A ser mostrado en vistas" could do, but it's a hell too long. "Mostración" sadly is not a even a real word. ;)
On top of that, the panel just above is called Visibility (Visibilidad) to confuse things even more, and icing that cake both panels do have options labeled Show (Mostrar), so... it's a hard world we live in :)
If any better option occurs to you (or anyone), please I'm really open to improvements here.

The common translation for "Denim" in Spain is "Tela Vaquera".... I know that "Mezclilla" can be the "official" name, but all people in the common language use the other term.

Thank you @antoniov fine, as long as is translated.

@GabrielGazzan The research.
I know some of fabrics and textile fibers but not an expert.

Denim is used by some people as they use other words: like, outfit, bye, bacon, cool, bro, man, etc. but is not a Spanish word.

Some synonymous for "mostrar" in action (ción ending) are:
Exhibición en Vistas
Presentación en Vistas
Exposición en Vistas

Other options could be:
Apariencia en Vistas
Aspecto en Vistas.
... Maybe ¿Formato de Vistas?

@antoniov thank you for your insight and comments on the subject!
@Confabulatori thank you for the search and very good compilation of sources!

I know that "Mezclilla" can be the "official" name, but all people in the common language use the other term.

I tend to agree with that point of view. I know that me myself would immediately understand what "Tela vaquera" or "Tejido vaquero" would mean, whereas "Mezclilla" would leave me with a mental question mark after reading it ...without questioning in any form the accuracy of the latter.
Of the two more colloquial options, I think I would go with "Tejido vaquero" as it includes the exact same word by which jeans are called in several places ("Vaqueros"), so more chances of discovery of the right meaning.

Some synonymous for "mostrar" in action (ción ending) are:

I liked "Presentación en vistas" I will change it to that.
Thanks for all the options!

If we move this out of the triaging queue (by changing status label to Needs Information from Developers), this needs to be the responsibility of a module (so a Module label must be added)
