System Information
Operating system: Linux-6.0.2-2-MANJARO-x86_64-with-glibc2.36 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 520.56.06

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.4.0 and 3.3.1, branch: makepkg (modified), commit date: 2022-10-04 18:35, hash: b292cfe5a9
Worked: (?)

The plural for Menu is Menús not menúes. Is not completely wrong but is not the most used word for all the Spanish Speakers, not the best choice.

image.translated (1).jpg https://www.rae.es/duda-linguistica/cual-es-el-plural-de-menu

The splash screen is translated as Imagen de Bienvenida (welcome image) but is an interactive window with options is not only an static image as the other one form the Blender icon, the right translation is "Pantalla de Bienvenida".
image.png
image.png All the other apps use "Pantalla de Bienvenida" or "Dialogo de Bienvenida".

Thank you!

Splash Screen

Well, yes... everyone knows screen=pantalla, but nobody knows what this UI element is :)

The elements of Blender's UI are:

  • Windows, like the User Preferences one. They are standard OS windows with its usual controls.
  • Areas, like where the editors reside. Divisions of the main space. They can't overlap other things in UI.
  • Editors themselves, which define the content in those areas.
  • Regions, like the toolbar, side bar, etc. Those do overlap things!
  • Panels, sections like the different ones inside the Properties Editor. Transform, Relations, Collections, etc...

The so called "Splash Screen" doesn't fit in anyone of this categories.
It's not really a screen (it doesn't replace all content in the screen), not a window either, but more of a borderless popup dialog that auto-closes when clicking outside of it.
BTW, the term "Dialog" is out of Blender terminology (i.e. not used for anything)

So should we called it Splash Region?
IDK

No, there is not need to reinvent anything, we all know a "Pantalla de Bienvenida"...

the term "Dialog" is out of Blender terminology (i.e. not used for anything)

Blender uses parent but you superior, Blender uses Torus but you Rosca, I think you are overthinking the how to change the already existing (common) terms including the academics. You need to give us the exact same Blender from English to Spanish, yes, to change and evolve is good but you can't change only our version this is not fine, it will be fine only if the English version also changes. If the Blender Institute changes torus for donut or parent for superior (a cognate), splash screen for welcome image, ngon for engon(for readibility), and so on.

Honestly, I think you are leaned towards literal translations, I don't. I clearly stated that at the beginning of your intervention.
I privilege meaning and being as didactic as possible over (someone's) common places, which of course vary from zone to zone.

At the same time, you wanted to use the equivalent of Toroid as the translation for Torus, when is not the same.
The precise ones would be Toro or Rosca (I used one of those, the one I found more appropriate to my heart's content).
So why is that?
Well, I can just guess it's because you are used to mistranslate it and now is the most common word for you.

Seeing the big picture, I detect you only want to use the most exact term, when it's the term you are used to.
You only dislike non technical words when they are not the ones you learned (I didn't hear you complain about Box being the name of the cube primitive, for example, while you did ranted about having to be fully technically accurate with the names of primitives, to avoid creating a "chimera").

Wrapping it up, I'm sorry if that isn't what you expected, when you started participating here.
Your effort IS welcome, but you should also be prepared to accept a founded negative to some of your proposals.
In the end, if that's not the case and you find yourself uncomfortable, you can always return to using the English version, which is what you used to up until 2 months ago (as stated by yourself).

No, I'm not complaining. The people who report a bug is complaining? this is a complaining place? no, is here where we mention the things that are not working as they should, as espected. If I have not made more reports is cuz I understand not everything should be so exact, and I understand you are volunteer, also I'm only using Blender in Spanish for only a few days, I have not watched all, I'm in the costumization part (preferences area/menu).
Then Krita, Inkscape, and other apps are wrong, also Maya, Cinema, Zbrush.
If I use Blender in Spanish, English or any language is something up to me.
I understand you can feel it personal cuz is your job and probably nobody ever reported issues about it, but you can see the 3.3 is not even completely translated, I'm not complaining I care for the Spanish speakers community, for those how don't speak English, not for me, I understand some English but there are many who don't.
And you are doing a great job, and is not easy, but it can be improved thats what I'm saying.

Yes, you've complained several times. I'm not gonna look for and quote them, but you did it.
People can file all number of requests they want, I don't see it as a bad thing, neither they bother me at all.
When received I check them, analyze them I draw a conclusion, based on available data, objectives and possibilities available to me.
If I consider there's something to fix I'll do it, if I can't or know how to, I ask for suggestions or help.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're referring to here.

Of course, that's what I'm saying...

I understand you can feel it personal cuz is your job and probably nobody ever reported issues about it,

Yes, there's been some issues reported in the past. not many, though.
No, I do not take it personally, really. I do have my points of view on things, though. So, if I'm convinced of a certain thing, expect I will defend that point of view.
I can be proven wrong though, and I will willingly accept it and change my previous point of view.

but you can see the 3.3 is not even completely translated,

I know there's things untranslatable in Blender up until now, not only en 3.3
I've dedicated a lot of time (together with some others) compiling a list of problems related with untranslated strings and strings that are used for different things at once, etc.
Fortunately, Damien is doing a tremendous job in help solving that problems.
But this is OSS expect it to always be some degree of incompleteness.

Thanks for your words.
We're on the same page here. That's why I translate too. Personally, I do not need the translation at all.
I could be having a beer and watching a movie the moments I dedicate to translate... or to being attentive to these posts.
(As an example, I spent 3 hours just answering your very first post. I'm sure you spent a lot of time too gathering the things you posted in the message as well).
So here we are. Let's do it the best that we can!

If we move this out of the triaging queue (by changing status label to Needs Information from Developers), this needs to be the responsibility of a module (so a Module label must be added)
