Blender Version
Broken: version: 4.0.0 Alpha, branch: main, commit date: 2023-09-19 21:26, hash:
264c3e7bd7a6
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)
Short description of error
There seems to be a small bug in the main Apple menu where it lists open panels/windows. If you have the preferences panel open and then click on the main viewport to send it to the background, then you select the "Blender Preferences from Apple/window menu it does not bring it to the front. Also, if you have more windows open like the Blender Render window and both are in the background, if you select the Preferences window the Render window shows instead.
While the Preferences window is in the background, you select it from the Apple menu then command + tab to a different app and then back again, the Preferences window is now in front.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Not sure what would be expected behavior, since you can't go to preferences with cmd+tab. IMO this is working as expected
As far as I can check this is not a regression from recent version, so will close this report. Feel free to provide more info if you think this is a bug.
The issue reported here is a request for modified/improved behavior and not a bug in current behavior. Closing as this bug tracker is only for bugs and errors.

I don't know but this seems like a bug to me...maybe I should have included the video up front
That is just to show the bug that when you switch to another app and back to Blender, the preferences window is displayed because it is selected in the Apple menu, but not shown (before cmd+tabbing)....hence the bug. See video...the whole dynamic menus are not working correctly.
hope that helps
Sorry, I did indeed misunderstand this report, I thought the main menu is the bottom one. I can't reproduce this behavior though. Perhaps it is issue on arm machines only. @mano-wii can you check?
