Rotated armature changes position after two round trips #56852

Short description of error
Based on this bug report. Original bug report

In this report, the bug has been boiled down to the simplest object which can be easily replicated.
I'm reporting this as a separate issue for it might not be the same bug, or it could be the very bug that is causing the distortion ultimately
Doing the round trip twice is necessary due to files being passed around.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Create a plane
  • Create a bone
  • Rotate bone (Rotation can be done in object mode. To note it's position, rotate the armature at 90 degrees on the Y axis and snap the head/tail in edit mode to the plane vertex points.)
  • Parent the plane to the armature (automatic weights)
  • Export the file twice (round trip) using the standard collada exporter
  • The armature position/rotation will be far away from the plane.
