Gizmo dissapears #67825

I wasn't able to get back to you guys right away so you closed this bug with no effort to fix. I apologize.

I'm not sure why the gizmo disappears when the grab or move or scale function is enabled. So what you are saying is that it is suppose to disappear when you grab or scale or rotate in edit mode? That's weird. The issue is easily fixed by hitting the escape key, then the gizmo comes back.

See the images to see what I'm talking about.

This has been on all variants of the Blender 2.8 version
I'm using Ubuntu 19.04 64bit

Please! Next time, follow template provided by default. Or simple From Blender 2.8, Help -> Report A Bug. This is more simpler way..

Are they getting stuck in the invisible state? They should re-appear as soon as you finish the operation.

As far as I know this is generally intended behavior. With the tool operation in progress hiding the gizmos gets you more clear screen space, and you wouldn't be able to interact with them during the operation anyway. The entire header bar gets replaced with the numeric transformation information for the operation in progress, and the gizmos are turned off so that they don't obstruct the view of the operation. It's quite possible that the disappearance of the Gizmos in the upper right is a side-effect of them also being classified as "gizmos" and the functionality is implemented currently as "turn off all gizmos" rather than say just the SRT gizmos on the selection. This perhaps is not ideal as the user may not expect/understand this behavior.

I think it's more of an issue if you just want to toggle the SRT gizmos on and off manually but don't want to lose the navigation gizmos in the upper right. Currently, there's no simple way of being able to toggle some but not all of the gizmos. We give you "all gizmos on/off" but what counts or doesn't count as a gizmo is more of a developer classification than anything meaningful to the user.

But I don't think it qualifies as a bug in its current state.

Thank you for the quick help.
It doesn't get stuck. Once the operation is completed or left click/escape the gizmo and other controls return. I can see how it would help with providing more clear space. I like having the axes visible because many times during individual vertex manipulations I too quickly grab or scale or rotate without being aware of the location.

I'm a Blender noob and wondered if this was a bug too. Seems strange that part of the UI disappears while using a tool. I often glance at the tool settings to see if snapping or soft select is on while using a tool. I know you can turn on the 'Tool Settings' but part of the UI still disappears. Seems like a strange decision.
