System Information
Intel Core i7-5500U 2.4Ghz
16GB RAM

Operating system:
Chrome OS 86.0.4240.27 (linux x86-64) with google supplied debian buster linux (Linux penguin 5.4.58-07649-ge120df5deade)

Graphics card: not known?

Blender Version
Broken: (blender-2.83.6 and onwards, including blender-2.90.0)
Worked: (blender-2.82a, and 2.79)

Short description of error
Start Blender from commandline, 2.82a starts with broken splash screen, but loads OK afterwards.

Start any other version of blender after this, and get blank screen, no controls, no feedback.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Start linux terminal under Chrome, download and navigate to unzipped blender folder and run blender. 2.282a is the last version that loads and works as expected. All other versions after that seem to crash before the splashscreen loads.

  • debug-all output:

blender-2.83.6-linux64/blender --debug-all
Switching to fully guarded memory allocator.
