I can't reproduce this. Please add a minimal .obj that causes a crash on your system. Additionally, please upload the crash log that should be found in /tmp.

I can't reproduce this with 2.90.1 or a current master build either.

@cosimo-3 Please start a terminal and navigate to Blender's directory. Start Blender with the following command to create a debug log in your home directory.

./blender --debug --debug-gpu > ~/blender_debug_output.txt 2>&1

Try to make Blender crash again. Add the log file from your home directory to your bug report by clicking on the upload button as shown in the screenshot below or via drag and drop. Please also upload the crash log located in /tmp which should be created. Additonally, save your system information through Help> Save System Info in Blender and upload them as well.

I'll quote myself from #82471:

The official Blender build of 2.90.1 doesn't use Python 3.9, because it's not compatible due to the use of PyEval_ReleaseLock(). If you want to use Blender 2.90.1, please use the official version from our release page . Future versions of Blender may be able to use Python 3.9, since 5edba9b42f fixes this issue for 2.91.

I'm having the same issue. Using windows 10, if I set windows default programs to automatically open gltf, dae, or obj files, blender immediately crashes.
Manually importing the files while blender is already open works fine. Windows opening blender when double clicking the 3D asset is what makes the crash.
Happens using blender versions 2.83 AND 2.90.1
