Options to convert color attributes to other domain and data types #97106

This is one of the left-over tasks related to #97101.

This task should be tackled after #97468 is resolved.
The Attribute tab in the object data properties currently offers an option to convert any Attribute to another.

A simplified version of this operator needs to be added to the Color Attribute tab to convert any data type or domain that is related to color attributes.

Hi, I finished with a basic look like this.

And I have a few question.
Since now it contains all types of data, does the display of Items need to be aligned with Attributes tap?

I only found Vertex Colors Sculpt Vertex Colors for the color properties in Mesh Properties, I'm not sure if this covers all the color attributes...

The popup options from the Attribute tab are currently not enough. I'd suggest that this task is to

  • Update the mode option "Color Attribute".
  • Add a "Convert Color Attribute" button to the color attributes tab

In the convert popover in the attribute tab there are various mode options. When using the button to convert color attributes in the "color attributes tab" there would only be one mode.
When the mode is set to "Color Attributes" there should be the same domain and data types available like when creating a new color attribute.

The geometry nodes module added the task #97468 to update the operator.
This task is still valid for adding a simplified version of that operator to the color attributes tab. I will update the description to reflect that.

I'm putting this on a lower priority since it's too late for this to land in Blender 3.2.
So for that release users will still be able to convert color attributes, but have to do it from the attributes UI.
