Hi, thanks for the report. Can you share the error your getting? (attach a screenshot or paste it from console)
cats-blender-plugin is not maintained by blender developers.
So if issue is particularly occurring when that plugin is enabled then please report your issue at https://github.com/absolute-quantum/cats-blender-plugin/issues

Thanks. Think this is same as blender/blender-addons#97428
original reporter of blender/blender-addons#97428 has solved this error by removing the malwares. Can you check if same is the culprit for you?

@RandomnessRemedy Could you please check if there are issues with corrupted system files with the following steps, based on this guide by Microsoft :

  • Open an elevated command prompt by
    • pressing the Windows key or opening the Start menu
    • typing "cmd", an entry titled "Command Prompt" should appear
    • selecting "Run as administrator"
  • Run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to load a clean image which can then be used to restore corrupted files. Copy and paste the following command, then press enter: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  • Run the System File Checker tool to scan your system for corrupted files and repair them. Copy and paste the following command, then press enter: sfc /scannow

If this does not help, please open Blender's installation directory and double-click the blender_factory_startup.cmd to start it (temporarily) with the factory default settings. Are you able to successfully export the FBX in this case?

In that case this does appear to be caused by an add-on you have installed. What seems to be odd is that your original report stated that all version of Blender were affected, although you just installed the cats add-on for one particular version. Could you clarify whether your installed the add-on for other versions as well?

If you haven't permanently reset the settings already, could you please open Blender and save your system information through Help > Save System Info in Blender? This file includes a list of add-ons you have enabled.

If the executable from steam and portable/standalone were the same version of Blender, then they shared the preferences and add-ons.

It has to be checked whether this is an implementation error in the add-on or if this is a bug in Blender's Python API.

how would i check that

how would i check that

That is not something you would have to check, but members of the triaging team or developers of the add-on should. In order to potentially speed this up, I would recommend that you create a ticket on the cats add-on's GitHub repository , since this appears to be caused by their add-on.

Due to my other obligation I have not yet had time to test whether I can reproduce the issue in a Windows VM. @PratikPB2123 Perhaps you can check if this issue is reproducible?

@soccer In that case it seems that one of your add-ons triggers the issue. According to your system-info.txt you have the following add-ons enabled:

Create a ZIP archive of the 3.1 folder by right-clicking on it and then selecting Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. Upload the ZIP archive here.

Once you have uploaded your preferences, please check which add-on might cause the problem. Start with the add-ons NodePreview, lightning_boy_shader, blenderkit, rigify, node_wrangler and io_scene_x3d.

  • Open Blender normally
  • Go to the add-on preferences (Edit > Preferences > Add-ons)
  • Disable one activated add-on
  • Save your preferences
  • Close Blender
  • Restart Blender and check if the error still happens

If yes, repeat from step 2) with a different add-on

If it is caused by an add-on, the error should disappear once you have disable it.

@soccer The BlenderKit error seems unrelated at the moment.

  • Does the WinError 233 disappear completely when io_scene_x3d is disabled?
  • What did you do to test whether the error still occurs?
  • Could you also please upload the ZIP files with your user preferences?

This is error is happening on seemingly print statements in the code, that don't seem like they could cause this type of error. I would guess it's either:

  • Some issue with standard output. Perhaps related to code capturing / overriding stdout, non-english locales, or something along those lines.
  • An error happening somewhere in another Python thread, possibly launched by an add-on. Perhaps one that launches other processes, or makes network connections.
  • Since blenderkit was mentioned, I looked to see if those anything suspicious, and and this tracing code seems like the thing that could be problematic. But it's not clear that blenderkit was enabled for everyone who had this problem.

"OSError: [WinError 233] No process is on the other end of the pipe"
A few days ago I had a similar error in one of my addons and I discovered that it was because I was using 'os.system(')'. After a search for the addons that are included with the official version of Blender I found that 'render_povray' and 'io_scene_x3d' was also using 'os.system(...)' in some parts of the code. After changing them to 'print('...') or disables, the error disappeared in my addon and the system console was stable again

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but changing os.system in povray and x3d add-ons should not have any effect unless you actually have those enabled and are rendering or importing files with them. I don't see how that code could run otherwise.

If your usage of os.system triggered this problem that is an interesting clue, and it would very useful to know how to reproduce that. It could help us understand how the problem in this bug report happens.

In my case, we uses 'os.system("") without arguments, as a trick to allowed a colored code in the system console, following a stackoverflow tip.

This are placed in the 'init' method of RenderEngine class

    def __init__(self):
        # trick to show colors in the system console under Windows
        os.system("")

First I removed in my addon, and then also in the other's. But I have not thoroughly checked if removing them from the other addons has helped to solve the problem.

Thanks, unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the problem with this information.

Let me re-check.. If I can manage to repro again, I'll prepare a example scene with all the possible information to push here.

So I made a cute cat in blender and I tried to export it to a .fbx file format to upload it on Sketchfab but whatever I did it showed me this error massage :

Python: Traceback (most recent call last):

File "C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 3.6\3.6\scripts\addons\io_scene_fbx_init_.py", line 661, in execute

return export_fbx_bin.save(self, context, **keywords)

File "C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 3.6\3.6\scripts\addons\io_scene_fbx\export_fbx_bin.py", line 3519, in save

ret = save_single(operator, context.scene, depsgraph, filepath, **kwargs_mod)

File "C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 3.6\3.6\scripts\addons\io_scene_fbx\export_fbx_bin.py", line 3383, in save_single

print('\nFBX export starting... %r' % filepath)

OSError: [WinError 233] No process is on the other end of the pipe

I googled the problem and I could figure out what the problem was.

I only used Texture Paint mode.

I have UVs in all my meshes/objects.

I'm using Blender 3.6.

System: Device name LAPTOP-3I0IMMSE

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz

Installed RAM 16.0 GB
