Scrape brush with constant falloff creates a hole when scraping edges #99767
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22616-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 512.78
Broken: version: 3.2.1, branch: master, commit date: 2022-07-05 15:44, hash:
Worked: somewhere in 2.7
Short description of error
Scrape brush with constant falloff creates a hole when trying to flatten an edge.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
In the attached file scrape a lot of times along the drawn line.
Forgot to mention that it happens only when "Constant" falloff is chosen
Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs Developer To Reproduce'
I can reproduce the issue, which seems unexpected, so tagging the module to make a decision.
I'm thinking of increasing the default value to between 0.75-1.5, say 1.0.
I tried all kinds of settings and it still tends to exacerbate holes instead of smoothing surfaces like it used to
@JosephEagar I can still reproduce with a normal radius of 1.0, just needs more strokes to make the hole visible. Is this still expected?
This has been a long standing issue with the scrape brush. @PabloDobarro worked on a proper solution to this by including a new brush type: D9571
@JosephEagar Unless there's a proposed new fix I'll mark this as a known issue. Adjusting the normal falloff does not fix the issue but hides it a little better.
