Motivation is to disambiguate on the naming level what the matrix
actually means. It is very easy to understand the meaning backwards,
especially since in Python the name goes the opposite way (it is
called `world_matrix` in the Python API).
It is important to disambiguate the naming without making developers
to look into the comment in the header file (which is also not super
clear either). Additionally, more clear naming facilitates the unit
verification (or, in this case, space validation) when reading an
expression.
This patch calls the matrix `object_to_world` which makes it clear
from the local code what is it exactly going on. This is only done
on DNA level, and a lot of local variables still follow the old
naming.
A DNA rename is setup in a way that there is no change on the file
level, so there should be no regressions at all.
The possibility is to add `_matrix` or `_mat` suffix to the name
to make it explicit that it is a matrix. Although, not sure if it
really helps the readability, or is it something redundant.

The internal state tracking is not fully suited for such kind
of optimization yet.
It is probably not that much work to make them work, but the
issue caused by the changes is serious enough for the studio
so it feels better to revert changes for now and have a closer
look into remaining issues without pressure.

The issue was caused by depsgraph clearing all id->recalc flags
wrongly assuming that all IDs are fully evaluated.
This change makes it so the depsgraph becomes aware of possibly
incompletely evaluated IDs.

This change makes it so that objects which are temporary hidden from
the viewport (the icon toggle in outliner) do not affect on the
performance of the viewport.
The attached file demonstrates the issue. Before this change hiding
the object does not change FPS, after this change FPS goes high when
the object is hidden.

Changing the object temporary visibility is already expected to tag
scene for bases updates, which flushes down the stream to the object
visibility update. So the only remaining topic was to ensure the
graph does a special round of visibility update on such changes.

While it is hard to measure the performance impact accurately, there
is no need to perform per-modifier string lookup on every frame update.
Implemented as an exceptional case in the code which flushes updates to
the entire component. Sounds a bit suboptimal, but there are already
other exception cases handled in the function.

A mistake in the 0dcee6a386 which made specific driven visibility
to work, but did not properly handle actual time-based visibility.
The basic idea of the change is to preserve recalculation flags of
nodes which were tagged for update but were not evaluated due to
visibility constraints. In the file from the report this makes it
so tagging which is done first time ID is in the dependency graph
are handled when the ID actually becomes visible. This is what
solved the root of the problem from the report: there was missing
geometry update since it was "swallowed" by the evaluation during
the object being invisible. In other configurations this change
allows to handle pending geometry updates due to animated modifiers
be handled when object becomes visible without time change.
This change also solves visibility issue of the synchronization
component which also started to be handled badly since the
previous fix attempt. Basically, the needed exception in its
visibility handling did not happen and a regular logic was used
for it.
Tested with files from the T99733, T99976, and from the Heist
project.

During a mesh transformation in edit mode (Move, Rotate...), only part of
the batch cache needs to be updated.
This commit allows only update only the drawn batches seen in
`BKE_object_data_eval_batch_cache_deform_tag` if the new
`ID_RECALC_GEOMETRY_DEFORM` flag is used.
This new flag is used in the transforms operation for edit-mesh and
results in 1.6x overall speedup in heavy subdiv cube.

and implements an alternative solution.
The old patch had the problem that the depsgraph would always
evaluate at the current frame of the original scene (even when
`DEG_evaluate_on_framechange` was used). Now it is possible
to evaluate the depsgraph at a specific frame without having to
change the original scene.

Note that this is partially WIP code, we only take care of shapekeys
here for now.
Also, move this tagging for liboverride refresh into same chack as the
one for tagging editors, sounds more logical that way.
This makes any operation (including mere bone selection) several times
faster on some complex production character, since we typically now only
need to diff a single ID, instead of tens of them.
Now all overrides are handled that way. Performances of the process look
decent enough, even with production characters...
If performance issues still arise, we'll investigate other solutions.
This should also make T73154 obsolete now.
Surrounding includes with an 'extern "C"' block is not necessary anymore.
Also that made it harder to add any C++ code to some headers, or include headers
that have "optional" C++ code like `MEM_guardedalloc.h`.
I tested compilation on linux and windows (and got help from @LazyDodo).
If this still breaks compilation due to some linker error, the header containing
the symbol in question is probably missing an 'extern "C"' block.

The root cause of the issue reported in T74983 is that an `IDNode` would
not be marked as user-modified. This marking happened while looping over
outgoing relations of one of its operation nodes. Since rBff60dd8b18ed
unused relations are removed, and as a result the `IDNode` would not be
marked.
The solution was to move the responsible code outside the loop; this is
probably a good idea anyway, as the code did not actually use the
looped-over relations at all, and was thus repeated unnecessarily.
Since `std::deque` is used in a few areas of the Depsgraph, and an
upcoming patch adds one more, it's time it's considered as "commonly
used type".
No functional changes.
Found this while looking into T70463, solves the high spinning times
mentioned in T70463#791026.
Sounds logical that iterating over an array to modify a single property
is faster than doing it in threads. But strangely, doing it for both
nodes and its components is still faster in threads here.
Gives extra speedup with a file mentioned in the report.

Evaluation is not entirely cheap even in the case when there is nothing tagged
in the scene. This is because of all the calculation of pending operations,
cleating runtime flags and so on.
This commit makes it so time operation is tagged for update prior to early exit
check. Improves playback speed in a scene without anything animated.

Current frame is stored in a scene, and scene might have multiple view
layers. The inactive view layers were not informed about scene's frame
being changed, so when user switched back to view after changing scene
frame it was in an inconsistent state between current scene frame and
animation.
Now we tag scene for time changes, so dependency graph can catch up
and do proper update.
Currently tagging is from quite generic place. Probably better approach
would be to tag from where frame is actually being assigned. Downside
of this is that it's easy to miss some places.

Better to make internal code naming match official/UI naming to some
extent, this will reduce confusion in the future.
This is 'breaking' scripts and files that would use that feature, but
since it is not yet officially supported nor exposed in 2.80, as far
as that release is concerned, it is effectively
a 'no functional changes' commit.
This is how it worked in 2.79 and it is how it is expected to be working.

Tagging original ID introduces a conflict of interest when a separate
graph is created and is tagging objects to be re-evaluated with its
context.
This is part of the problem in T63111: tags within a temporary dependency
graph affects viewport and vice versa, which makes logic to wrongly
consider that something did change in the scene and that baking is to
be redone.
This effectively reverts db3bfd0, but this time everything seems to
be updating fine in the viewport.
The issue was discovered only after recent changes, but roots back
to much older changes.
What was happening is scene's ID recalc flags where never cleared,
which caused ensure_view_layer() to always run copy-on-write on the
scene. This resulted in certain runtime data being cleared, without
proper flag stored in the dependency graph.
This was caused by ID recalc clear function checking whether any ID
was tagged for recalc in that graph or not. This was happening due
to all areas using DEG_id_type_tag() which can only set flags on the
graph from viewport scenes, and could not inform render dependency
graph.
Now ID tyoe tagging is happening on per-graph level, which avoids
possibility of flags running out of sync.
In a bit longer term we also need to get rid of two functions which
are clearing flags: DEG_id_type_tag() and deg_graph_clear_tags().
This is unreliable for cases when multiple dependency graphs
are to be updated.
The only reason why it was attempted to be made is to deal
with cases when ID appears in the dependency graph for the
first time. But even then it should be smart enough bring
itself to an up-to-date state without any extra tricks.
