The absence of datablock properties "will certainly be resolved soon as the need for them is becoming obvious" said the [[http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.67/Python_Nodes|Python Nodes release notes]]. So this patch allows Python scripts to create ID Properties which reference datablocks.
This functionality is implemented for `PointerProperty` and now such properties can be created with Python.
In addition to the standard update callback, `PointerProperty` can have a `poll` callback (standard RNA) which is useful for search menus. For details see the test included in this patch.

Setting all values of a tuple is such a common operation that it deserves its own macro.
Also added Py_INCREF_RET to avoid confusing use of comma operator.
Nothing related to rigify actually, recent hack in py handling of IDProp (rB3346ab03)
was breaking integrity of IDGroup's listbase of children IDProps...
Took me hours to nail this down, should have bisected for once. :/
The issue is that we've got hell with DEBUG and _DEBUG,
theu're defined really inconsistent acros CMake and SCons.
Used more reliable NDEBUG definition for IDP_spit.
- calc normals only check flag when needed.
- keymap, dont get name unless its needed.
- keymap, avoid property lookup.
- idprop debug print, include pointer, helpful for troubleshooting.
- PyLong_FromSsize_t --> PyLong_FromLong
- PyLong_AsSsize_t --> PyLong_AsLong
In all places except for those where python api expects PySsize_t (index lookups mainly).
- use PyBool_FromLong in a few areas of the BGE.
- fix incorrect assumption in the BGE that PySequence_Check() means PySequence_Fast_ functions can be used.
comparing keymaps was too sloppy or too strict, now sloppy keymap comparison works by setting all the operator
properties to their default values if they are not already set, then compare this with the keymap item (ignoring values missing from either one).
... this way any non default keymap setting wont match with an operator menu item which doesnt set this operator at all (a problem sighted in this bug report).
developer notes:
- IDP_EqualsProperties_ex() function adds an argument to treat missing members of either group to act as if there is a match.
- WM_operator_properties_default() function to reset RNA values to their defaults.
- add IDP_spit(), debug only function to print out ID properties.
* C: BM_vert_separate(...)
* py: bmesh.utils.vert_separate(vert, edges)
This splits off regions around the vertex, splitting on connected edges passed in a sequence.
also made minor changes
- rename python api functions _rip to _separate
- fixed bmesh iterator being iterable its self (some parts of python expect this)
- fix memory leak in bmesh python api.
This commit extends limit of ID and objects to 64 (it means 63 meaning
characters and 1 for zero-terminator). CustomData layers names are also
extended.
Changed DNA structures and all places where length constants were hardcoded.
All names which are "generating" from ID block should be limited by MAX_ID_NAME-2,
all non-id names now has got own define called MAX_NAME which should be used all
over for non-id names to make further name migration stuff easier.
All name fields in DNA now have comment with constant which corresponds to
hardcoded numeric value which should make it easier to further update this
limits or even switch to non-hardcoded values in DNA.
Special thanks to Campbell who helped figuring out some issues and helped a lot
in finding all cases where hardcoded valued were still used in code.
Both of forwards and backwards compatibility is stored with blender versions newer
than January 5, 2011. Older versions had issue with placing null-terminator to
DNA strings on file load which will lead to some unpredictable behavior or even
crashes.
