7504cf34b4 This commit frees list ui items from their dependencies to Panel, and hence from all the limitations this implied (mostly, the "only one list per panel" one).
It introduces a new (py-extendable and registrable) RNA type, UIList (roughly similar to Panel one), which currently contains only "standard" list's scroll pos and size (but may be expended to include e.g. some filtering data, etc.). This now makes lists completely independent from Panels!

This UIList has a draw_item callback which allows to customize items' drawing from python, that all addons can now use. Incidentally, this also greatly simplifies the C code of this widget, as we do not code any "special case" here anymore!

To make all this work, other changes were also necessary:

* Now all buttons (uiBut struct) have a 'custom_data' void pointer, used currently to store the uiList struct associated with a given uiLayoutListBox.

* DynamicPaintSurface now exposes a new bool, use_color_preview (readonly), saying whether that surface has some 3D view preview data or not.

* UILayout class has now four new (static) functions, to get the actual icon of any RNA object (important e.g. with materials or textures), and to get an enum item's UI name, description and icon.

* UILayout's label() func now takes an optional 'icon_value' integer parameter, which if not zero will override the 'icon' one (mandatory to use "custom" icons as generated for material/texture/... previews).
Note: not sure whether we should add that one to all UILayout's prop funcs?

Note: will update addons using template list asap.

f9ec10688a fix [#33501] Grease pencil in OpenGL render
With the view3d 'Render Only' option, grease pencil wouldn't draw, but for OpenGL render it did.

Since grease pencil can be very useful in opengl renders, enable grease pencil drawing with 'Render Only' option in the viewport,
and add a checkbox in the grease pencil header not to draw (unchecking each layer is annoying and applies to all spaces).

12b642062c Holiday coding log :)
Nice formatted version (pictures soon):
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability

Short list of main changes:

- Transparent region option (over main region), added code to blend in/out such panels.
- Min size window now 640 x 480
- Fixed DPI for ui - lots of cleanup and changes everywhere. Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake.
- Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it
- Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong
- Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl)
- Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate
- Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even...
Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now.
- Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)"
- New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start.
This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save.
When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header)
- Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v).
Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards.
- User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file.
Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings".
To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still.
- OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window.
This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)

7ab67541d3 Toolbar region for the node editor. This region is, for now, empty and hidden by default. Later on we might add standard panels here, but at least it will give addons a place to register tool shelf panels. 2012-12-12 12:50:39 +00:00

89d91f5a7d Fix #33402: Compositor crashes when drag-dropping multilayer exr
There was a missing image reload signal in node creation by drag-dropping,
which lead to incorrectly set image type.

Also fixed misusage of IMB_freeImBuf used to release buffer acquired by
BKE_image_acquire_ibuf.

323e86694e Compositor should never add notifiers by himself, notifiers should be added
from main thread using job update callback.

Added new execution-time callback to bNodeTree which marks job to be updated.

The code here could be a bit not so obvious because in some cases job update
callback need to merge local tree, but it's only needed for old compositor
system which is gonna to be removed soon, so decided not to bother with
cleanup now. Removing old compositor system will also allow to drop stats_draw
callback from bNodeTree.

This should fix following bugs:

5c6f6301b0 Image thread safe improvements
This commit makes BKE_image_acquire_ibuf referencing result, which means once
some area requested for image buffer, it'll be guaranteed this buffer wouldn't
be freed by image signal.

To de-reference buffer BKE_image_release_ibuf should now always be used.

To make referencing working correct we can not rely on result of
image_get_ibuf_threadsafe called outside from thread lock. This is so because
we need to guarantee getting image buffer from list of loaded buffers and it's
referencing happens atomic. Without lock here it is possible that between call
of image_get_ibuf_threadsafe and referencing the buffer IMA_SIGNAL_FREE would
be called. Image signal handling too is blocking now to prevent such a
situation.

Threads are locking by spinlock, which are faster than mutexes. There were some
slowdown reports in the past about render slowdown when using OSX on Xeon CPU.
It shouldn't happen with spin locks, but more tests on different hardware would
be really welcome. So far can not see speed regressions on own computers.

This commit also removes BKE_image_get_ibuf, because it was not so intuitive
when get_ibuf and acquire_ibuf should be used.

abeeea6a96 Z sampling for nodes backdrop
As it turned out, the node space was the only place we have the option to sample the backdrop buffer RGB, but not the zed.
This code is copied from image space.

Now one can use the viewer node and sample the depth while looking at the color buffer (so Map Range Node works even better)

0890c2a4a0 support for string parameters in OSL nodes

should work for now)

4496b9004c Cycles: tangent and normal map now show UV map link menu instead of text field. 2012-11-06 20:48:26 +00:00
27d647dcf8 Cycles: 4 new nodes.
* Tangent: generate a tangent direction for anisotropic shading. Can be either
radial around X/Y/Z axis, or from a UV map. The default tangent for the
anisotropic BSDF and geometry node is now always radial Z, for UV tangent use
  this node now.

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Nodes/More#Tangent

* Normal Map: generate a perturbed normal from an RGB normal map image. This
is usually chained with an Image Texture node in the color input, to specify
the normal map image. For tangent space normal maps, the UV coordinates for
the image must match, and the image texture should be set to Non-Color mode
  to give correct results.

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Nodes/More#Normal_Map

* Refraction BSDF: for best results this node should be considered as a building
block and not be used on its own, but rather mixed with a glossy node using a
fresnel type factor. Otherwise it will give quite dark results at the edges for
  glossy refraction.

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Nodes/Shaders#Refraction

* Ambient Occlusion: controls the amount of AO a surface receives, rather than
having just a global factor in the world. Note that this outputs a shader and
not a color, that's for another time.

f32113bbc8 Node reroute cut operator update.
Cutting mulitple links with for inserting reroute nodes would previously insert only one reroute node for the first cut link.

Now the operator will insert a reroute node for every link in the cut line. Also, if several links share the same input/output socket, it will insert only a single reroute node, which all affected links will then share.

dd106b5c7a Removed the initial HIDDEN flag from the UI sidebar region in node editor. This way the sidebar is visible by default when making a new node editor.
Rationale is that the sidebar contains some extra detail settings for several node types. Many users don't seem to even know that this feature exists, so making it visible by default should be helpful.

09ed97afc5 Internal node links are now cached in a per-node list, instead of being generated as a transient list that is returned from the callback and had to be freed by the caller. These internal links are used for muted nodes, disconnect operators and reroute nodes, to effectively replace the node with direct input-to-output links.
Storing this list in the node has the advantage of requiring far fewer calls to the potentially expensive internal_connect callback. This was called on every node redraw ...

Also it will allow Cycles to properly use the internal links for muted nodes, which ensures consistent behavior. The previous method was not applicable in Cycles because transient list return values are not supported well in the RNA and particularly the C++ API implementation.

cbae51bc93 Removed the experimental (and commented-out) code for FOR and WHILE loops in nodes. This was a feature i tested a while back but was only partially supported by Blender Internal renderer and the old compositor. The main idea was to have nodes that automatically mirror input and output sockets to support incremental changes of "internal variables".
It is not a well-supported feature of the primary node systems (shader, compositor, texture) in Blender. If anybody wants to create a node system that has actual use for loops, they can do so much more elegantly with Python nodes, but it does not have to be a core node type in Blender. Removing this should ease node code maintenance a bit.
