From the patch description:
ValterVB on #blendercoders submitted a long list of missing tooltips in Blender, and I went through the list and added all I knew. After that I crowdsourced the rest by putting a spreadsheet on Google docs and having people fill in the missing ones that I didn't know. So if there's some weird tooltip in there that doesn't make sense, that's why.
Thanks to Wolter, spacetug and others on BlenderArtists for contributing tooltips.
1. Removed pinning, at least until after trunk
reintegration (it's a usefull feature, but
incomplete).
2. Ripped out the subclassing code I originally
wrote so bmesh would be more usable for modifiers
(I ended up improving CDDM instead).
3. Inlined some of the macros in bmesh.h, still need to
do the macros in bmesh_operator_api.h.
4. Removed the BMESH_ITER_*** macros (except for BMESH_ITER_INDEX).
They were too clunkly to be worth it.
Discussed with Campbell, it's not actually bug and it's more about limitation
of topology mirror. It will work properly when both sides of mesh have matching
unique topology.
Added note to tooltip, so now unpredictable behaviour shouldn't confuse users
so much.
Also gray out "Topology mirror" when "X Mirror" is disabled.
Auto-texture space now is more responsive and correct.
- on transforming it, the buttons get redrawn to show option was reset
- on enabling option, texture space is recalculated/reset
this missed some cases, now also disallow ints to be wrapped as floats.
This commit also exposed a number of cases where ints/floats were incorrectly wrapped.
Bugs like [#25416] wont slip through the cracks anymore.
- made theme colors for mesh edge len & face angle/area display.
- use %g rather then %f for float display, trims unneeded zeros.
- store cached 2d and 3d text color as bytes rather then floats, compare when drawing to avoid setting the context.
- use unsigned char for more color functions, avoids casting to glColorubv().
only tags the ID and does the actual flush/update delayed, before the next
redraw. For objects the update was already delayed, just flushing wasn't
yet.
This should help performance in python and animation editors, by making
calls to RNA property update quicker. Still need to add calls in a few
places where this was previously avoided due to bad performance.
Also use const char in many other parts of blenders code.
Currently this gives warnings for setting operator id, label and description since these are an exception and allocated beforehand.
- pose bone 'matrix_local' wasn't well named since it didn't work like object or regular bones.
- pose bone matrix values for rna had array access rather then 4x4 matrix access.
note: for pose bones update scripts by renaming 'matrix_local' --> 'matrix_basis'
- removed deprecated bitmap arg from IMB_allocImBuf (plugins will need updating).
- mostly tagged UNUSED() since some of these functions look like they may need to have the arguments used later.
- set_frame() --> frame_set()
- set_context_pointer() --> context_pointer_set()
material adding works for curves and metaballs, new function to remove materials.
materials.link() didnt well fit how this is used elsewhere
- order matters
- it can be linked more than once.
- remove(material), isnt that useful since you need to manage indicies.
... use list style functions instead. materials.append(mat) / materials.pop(index)
The code was taking the last layer, but that is only valid if the mesh has only one kind of CustomData types (e.g. only UVMaps or only VertexColors). The solution I found is to call CustomData_get_named_layer_index instead. To avoid some situations where an uv with this name may already exist and the number of UVs is already the limit we are returning a CDL only when the texture is properly created.
As a bonus that also fixes the same problem with VertexColor.
- mesh.add_geometry(v, e, f) --> mesh.vertices.add(tot), mesh.edges.add(tot), mesh.faces.add(tot)
- mesh.add_material(mat) --> mesh.materials.link(mat)
changed material.link so it always adds a material even if it exists in the list, this behavior is good for users but not scripts since it can mess up indicies (some formats may have the same material set twice).
- some remove() functions took an int argument rather then the item to remove.
- disallow None argument.
- raise an error if the item isnt in the collection.
scene.active_keying_set --> scene.keying_sets.active
...same for active_uv_texture. active_vertex_color, active_keyconfig,
- move mesh.add_uv_layer() and mesh.add_vertex_color() into their collections
also have them return the newly created layer and dont set the layer active.
uvtex = mesh.uv_layers.new(name)
vcol = mesh.vertex_colors.new(name)
changed some rna names to be more consistant
- use_texture -> use_image, since it sets if 'image' is used.
- use_map_color_diff -> use_map_color_diffuse since diffuse is used elsewhere in the same type.
Changed some names when applying.
- render was use_render, changed to show_viewport so call it show_render
- texface shadow was use_shadow_face, changed to use_shadow_cast since this only affects casting.
- transp was alpha_mode, changed to blend_type since its similar to other overlay blending where this property name is used.
