Steps to reproduce were: startup.blend, move any object, delete active scene (nothing happens), undo (nothing happens), second undo is needed to revert object transformation
Tried a couple of things to trigger an update/redraw for the exact right
moment (sending azone update event, timer, delayed redraw, etc) but this
seems to work rock solid without being *that* ugly.
Basically, blender adds a few metadata fields to images when
we render an image. Those metadata can now be viewed in the
image editor.
Also, made sure metadata are available when we write imbufs
to disc with "Save As". There may be more cases here that need
fixing, but this means that loading an image with metadata
will now properly preserve them in blender.

Missing Bits
============
First rule of Multi-View bug report: If something is not working as it should *when Views is off* this is a severe bug, do mention this in the report.
Second rule is, if something works *when Views is off* but doesn't (or crashes) when *Views is on*, this is a important bug. Do mention this in the report.
Everything else is likely small todos, and may wait until we are sure none of the above is happening.
Apart from that there are those known issues:
* Compositor Image Node poorly working for Multi-View OpenEXR
(this was working prefectly before the 'Use Multi-View' functionality)
* Selecting camera from Multi-View when looking from camera is problematic
* Animation Playback (ctrl+F11) doesn't support stereo formats
* Wrong filepath when trying to play back animated scene
* Viewport Rendering doesn't support Multi-View
* Overscan Rendering
* Fullscreen display modes need to warn the user
* Object copy should be aware of views suffix

Adds support for stacked fullscreens. This basically means, if a user opens a
temporary fullscreen mode, such as the File Browser or the Image Editor render
view, from a different fullscreen, the "Back to Previous" function or the other
ways to escape those temporary fullscreens don't return to the split screen
layout but to the previous fullscreen he has been in.
I already committed something similar (f7e844570f) but that was only
supposed as a fix, it didn't work for the "Back to Previous" operator and the
implementation wasn't really reusable. This one looks a bit nicer + makes some
older hacks unnecessary :)
There was a hard-coded check to exit the fileselector when restoring a view.
Now, when space types differ, flag areas as temporary and switch back to the previous type only in this case.
This means you can select a file while having a file-selector space type open, and not loose it every time.
Organize Maximize/Fullscreen mess and add a new fullscreen mode with no UI
* Maximize Editor: (old Ctrl+Up)
* Full Screen Window: (old Alt + F11)
* Full Screen Editor: new operator (Alt + F10)
* Change Show/Hide Header: (Alt + F9)
When the mode is on moving the mouse near the top right corner of the
editor shows an icon to go back to the normal editor mode.
This was originally intended for the multiview branch, but this
functionality also benefits non-stereo workflows, thus it can be
reviewed and committed independently.
Development notes:
* This includes cleanups in the code to sanitize the naming of
fullscreen/maximize across the window/editor code.
* Originally the idea was to make the window fullscreen as well, but
this idea was dropped.
* You can see the clicking area when debug is 1
* Technically the user can be left with an unfaded icon in the corner
(specially when using a tablet). If we think this is too bad we can
increase the action zone to be the whole screen, or something similar.

This is needed for popups to chance state once activated,
currently it makes use of operators `check` callback, after values are modified,
as the file selector does already.
node materials.
Area and region listener callbacks now get the screen and area pointers passed, so
they can do more fine grained checks to see if redraw is really needed, for example
depending on the 3D view drawtype.
Partial redraw doesn't work so well with these, now I've changed the action
zones to just draw as part of regions instead of as a special overdraw done
at the end, which fits better with partial redraw by avoiding any special
exceptions.
render of objects could slow things down when redrawing the view each time a new
sample is displayed.
Now it does a partial redraw of the viewport with only the render border area,
skipping OpenGL object drawing while the render is refining.
- bevel had incorrect cancel when initialization failed which could crash (own mistake).
- main particle poll function didnt check if the area/region were NULL.
- some uv operators needed space image but didnt check for it. also use uv_ prefix for most operator functions.
ED_region_visible_rect(ar, rect)
Returns the visible rect inside a region, subtracting the overlapping UI regions.
Added with minimal overhead, only called once per region draw.
Also fixes the 'Auto Key' warning print in 3d window (was behind properties)
Nice formatted version (pictures soon):

Short list of main changes:
- Transparent region option (over main region), added code to blend in/out such panels.
- Min size window now 640 x 480
- Fixed DPI for ui - lots of cleanup and changes everywhere. Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake.
- Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it
- Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong
- Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl)
- Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate
- Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even...
Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now.
- Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)"
- New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start.
This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save.
When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header)
- Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v).
Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards.
- User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file.
Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings".
To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still.
- OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window.
This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)
fix pose-group-sort and pose-group-moving being disabled for pinned poses.
also fix for own missing NULL check for pose mask clear which would crash when run without an active object
and allow to interact with tracks for operators which doesn't require image.

Setting Screen.scene only uses the active screen through a call to CTX_wm_screen(C) instead of the actual referenced scene.
The attached py-op demonstrates this behavior, assuming at least two separate scenes in the VSE.
added some missing functions too - which are not used yep but should be there for api completeness.
* CDDM_set_mloop
* CDDM_set_mpoly
* BLI_mempool_count
Changing tilt for 2D curves doesn't really hurt, just makes things not so
clear tosee what's going on because you're changing value which isn't used
at all for 2D curves. Disallwo to run TRANSFORM_OT_tilt operator for 2D curves.
Also made a correct fix for incorrect shortcut for tilt in 3D viewport toolbar,
it was really confusing to have almost the same operators (TRANSFORM_OT_tilt and
TRANSFORM_OT_transform with mode=tilt) in keymap. Better to use tilt operator
in toolbar.
- fix: user pref, window title was reset to 'Blender' on tab usage
- Undo history menu back:
- name "Undo History"
- hotkey alt+ctrl+z (alt+apple+z for mac)
- works like 2.4x, only for global undo, editmode and particle edit.
- Menu scroll
- for small windows or screens, popup menus now allow to display
all items, using internal scrolling
- works with a timer, scrolling 10 items per second when mouse
is over the top or bottom arrow
- if menu is too big to display, it now draws to top or bottom,
based on largest available space.
- also works for hotkey driven pop up menus.
- User pref "DPI" follows widget/layout size
- widgets & headers now become bigger and smaller, to match
'dpi' font sizes. Works well to match UI to monitor size.
- note that icons can get fuzzy, we need better mipmaps for it
Hanging Tooltips solved!
It appeared to be that an active button remained in that state when
another region/editor became active. It then kept the button-activate
state, and therefore also the optional tooltip.
This only happened on fast moves, when a mousemove event was not passed
on anymore to the previously active subwindow.
It has been solved with a new notifier (SWINACTIVE), which gets sent on
new active regions. The screen listener then calls uiFreeActiveButtons()
to find out if buttons were still active somewhere else.
