The only way to achieve this is to re-load editMesh.
After this commit you can't iterate through vertices and insert
hooks/parents from script anymore -- this operators are now
treated as topology-changing and shouldn't be used when iterating
via geometries.
Such load/make edit structures introduced regression into iterators
via object's geometry (vertices, edges, control points and so) when
adding hooks in the body of this iterator.
Fix for wrong index should be non-destructable for geometry.
This will fix#28506: Unusual behavior in curves.
Use quite easy and stupid approach like it used for shape keys:
re-make editmesh (editcurve or editlattice) before creating index array
for hook or storing vertex index in parenting object.
Even if hook was added in "current" edit mode, it should be re-mapped on
loading edit data because topology could be changed after it was created.
Such kind of re-loading edit structures is the easiest way for now to
update keyindexes to relevant state.
Also, fixed bug with not re-mapping indices for vertex-parented objects.
Really old error, not sure why it wasn't noticed yet.
only tags the ID and does the actual flush/update delayed, before the next
redraw. For objects the update was already delayed, just flushing wasn't
yet.
This should help performance in python and animation editors, by making
calls to RNA property update quicker. Still need to add calls in a few
places where this was previously avoided due to bad performance.
- use sizeof() in more places.
- fixed some off by 1 bugs copying strings. setting curve font family for instance was 1 char too short.
- replace strncpy and strcpy with BLI_strncpy
* Some cases of struct name being set where it shouldnt have been.
* Spelling: wich --> which
* Copy and initialize uv modifier scale, remove unneeded enum.
* Ability to pin any object into the context.
* Update uv window while transforming (useful when used with UVProject modifier)
* Patch by Wahooney, so new template's are internal text and dont get saved over
by mistake.

Only source/blender/editors/ dir, should not give errors on different platforms
Only removing: UI_*.h, ED_*.h, WM_*.h, DNA_*.h, IMB_*.h, RNA_*.h, PIL_*.h
this is too arbitrary and could break if roperty order is changed.
store the property in the operator type that is to be used for menu and enum search func's.
python function for searching operator enums on invoke. (just need dynamic python enums now)
wm.invoke_search_popup(self)
Parenting an object to some deformer (i.e. Armature, Curve, Lattice) now adds a new modifier if the object is deformable.
The advantages of this over setting PAR_SKEL mode are:
- instead of a hidden 'virtual' modifier, the user has direct feedback about what sort of modifier is being applied to deform
- most of the time in 2.4, whenever a virtual modifier was added, users would inevitably end up clicking "Make Real" on it
Of course, it's still possible to get 'virtual' modifiers by setting the parent type using the menu-property, but this just makes general setup easier.
Now shares the same operators as the modifier buttons, works context-sensitive, and uses Python menu too.
* Cleanups/tweaks in 3D View vertex group menu
* Convert all code to use new functions.
* Branch maintainers may want to skip this commit, and run this
conversion script instead, if they use a lot of math functions
in new code:

* #19819: 'Select' operator for Hooks was crashing when Hooks didn't have any vertices assigned yet
* Default twist resolution mode for curves is now 'Minimise'. This seems to work better for Curve Deforms and other purposes. Can be changed if other ways are better after some more testing.
* Spline IK now has more options for controlling how the x and z axis scaling is determined. There is now a choice between using the radius of the curve, the x+z scaling from the bones, or no scaling (default). This does break old files a bit, but this is to have a more stable base for later.
* #19583: Keying Sets list issues
Deleting a Keying Set (or a Keying Set Path) set the active index to 0, but that would mean that the first item would be selected but not visible.
* #19590: Keyframing properties of a modifier with more than one of it's type the property will highlight in all
- Modifiers now always have a unique name, so renaming a modifier should check that the name is unique. Most of the files changed in this commit were just to make sure that modifiers got unique names when they were created
- Modifiers path getter was wrapped a bit wrong (missing the "s around the name)
* Constraints Bugs
- Constraints renaming now also makes sure the names stay unique
- Fixed (or attempted to fix) compiler warnings about some enum declaration for distance constraint
* Split object_edit.c into multiple files:
object_add.c, object_edit.c, object_hook.c, object_relations.c,
object_select.c, object_transform.c.
* Rename files to have consistent object_ and mball_ prefix:
object_shapekey.c, object_lattice.c, object_vgroup.c, mball_edit.c.
* Added operators:
* vertex group menu and set active
* apply location, rotation, scale, visual transform (location is new)
* make local
* make vertex parent
* move to layer
* convert to curve/mesh (not finished yet)
* Many small fixes for marked issues, but still much code to be cleaned
