File Window draw error:
On start Blender in smaller sized window, a scalled down screen
causes the File Window main area to draw too high, clipping off
half of the top line. This case (scroll horizontal only) is not
handled as view2d type.
You now can drop a .blend inside blender window to open it.
Implementation notes:
- Added call to extract icon type for files. Code re-used from
space_file
- External files that get dropped set icon types too.
Drop box polls can check for this.
- Also enabled setting op-context for drop operators, this was
needed to prevent filewindow to open.
Added two user preferences for filebrowser:
1. Hide Recent Locations
Requested by Kernon Dillon. Reason: People doing video tutorials might not want to expose the name of other projects they are working on.
2. Open Filebrowser in thumbnail view for images and movies
Requested by Sebastian König at the Blender Conference. Reason: In the past (and most likely still) some corrupt images or movies could crash the filebrowser when generating thumbnails. (crashes in ffmpeg, libtiff, libjpg). While many of those were solved, artists in a production environment might want to use this setting to prevent any crashes.
NOTE: the second setting should probably be set next time we create a new default startup.blend. Until then users need to switch this on manually in the User Preferences.
Bringing back missing feature: Create new directory by typing a not existing name into the directory button.
Note: Small issue still with autocomplete -> if typing the new directory directly after autocomplete, it doesn't execute the operator yet.
Also fixed some minor compile/cleanup issues with warning about signed/unsigned comparison and missing header.
- use sizeof() in more places.
- fixed some off by 1 bugs copying strings. setting curve font family for instance was 1 char too short.
- replace strncpy and strcpy with BLI_strncpy
globbing vs explicit is discussed here.

Practical implications are:
- developers need to keep CMakeLists.txt files up to date.
- Users wont get strange linking errors if they build after a file is added, since CMake detects CMakeLists.txt is modified and automatically reconfigure.
Both stored the filename of the blend file, but G.sce stored the last opened file.
This will make blender act differently in some cases since a relative path to the last opened file will no longer resolve (which is correct IMHO since that file isnt open and the path might not even be valid anymore).
Tested linking with durian files and rendering to relative paths when no files is loaded however we may need to have some operators give an error if they are used on the default startup.blend.
- removed deprecated bitmap arg from IMB_allocImBuf (plugins will need updating).
- mostly tagged UNUSED() since some of these functions look like they may need to have the arguments used later.
modified the patch to store the string internally rather then an array of allocated string pointers, less hassle with memory allocation.
changed to use fnmatch, so *.foo is needed (not .foo as with the patch)
Patch by Alexander Kuznetsov
Reported by Chidozie Oku
From patch description:
"
Handler is now released on every exit from File Selector. For example pressing ctrl-up and then changing editor type
to another also releases the handler.
When an area is changed from SPACE_FILE, ED_fileselect_exit is called for clean up. It takes function of freeing folder
list and files (before it was done in cancel or exec functions) because they must be released on every exit anyway.
op!=null means cancel or exec was not executed so a handler was not released. ED_fileselect_exit then releases the handler
without changing screens.
"
Thanks!
This runs after changing a property and allows correcting incompatible options.
Returning True will redraw the UI.
Currently this is used for setting the write extension when saving files, so changing the image format also corrects the extension.
The same is accessible from python where its used when saving SVG/EPS/PNG files.
This fixes: [#23828] obj export problems, [#23760] Exporting OBJ and filetype ending
also fixed document submission operator.
Now the filename in the file selector is the one used for writing this means we remove the "Save Over" popup which could be overlooked too easily.
Instead display the filename field with red tint, and a note in the tooltip.
- ignore MSVC warnings when FREE_WINDOWS is defined to quiet warnings.
- the CMake flags were not being set correctly making blender have weirdo colors (no -funsigned-char).
- OBJ import/export now work with non utf8 paths. (all exporters and importers need changes like this)
- strip non utf8 chars from new ID blocks (also applies to renaming)
- set the file rename button to allow non-utf8 chars.
- user input gets non utf8 chars stripped all text input other then file paths.
- python has the same limitations, it will raise an error on non utf8 strings except for paths use unicode escape literals so its possible to deal with saving to these file paths from python.
- new string functions
BLI_utf8_invalid_byte(str, len) returns the first invalid utf8 byte or -1 on on success.
BLI_utf8_invalid_strip(str, len) strips non utf-8 chars.
