587b51831d More flexible size options for particle billboards. This adds scale factors for width and height of billboards, relative to the particle size. It's useful when the particle size is primarily used for collision and the like, so the billboard appearance can be adjusted independently. Also allows non-square billboards.
In addition the billboards can be scaled by the particle velocity with optional head and tail factors (similar to line drawing options). This allows for pseudo-motionblur effects.

8d8e42a451 2.5 Particle UI:
*In Particle Mode, there was no way to see what p-sys is being edited in the 3D View Tool bar, when having multiple ones. 
Changed List type to normal (with limit to 3 rows). Request by venomgfx. :)

* Removed redundant text info about disconnected hair from Particle UI.

4e235c184b Blender modifications for Cycles integration.
Some notes about code status:

* The Blender modifications were fairly quickly put together, much more code
  polish and work is needed to get this to a state where it can be committed
  to trunk. Files created with this version may not work in future versions.

* Only simple path tracing is supported currently, but we intend to provide
  finer control, and more options where it makes sense.

* For GPU rendering, only CUDA works currently. The intention is to have the
  same kernel code compile for C++/OpenCL/CUDA, some more work is needed to
  get OpenCL functional.

* There are two shading backends: GPU compatible and Open Shading Language.
  Unfortunately, OSL only runs on the CPU currently, getting this to run on
  the GPU would be a major undertaking, and is unlikely to be supported soon.
  Additionally, it's not possible yet to write custom OSL shaders.

* There is some code for adaptive subdivision and displacement, but it's far
  from finished. The intention is to eventually have a nice unified bump and
  displacement system.

* The code currently has a number of fairly heavy dependencies: Boost,
  OpenImageIO, GLEW, GLUT, and optionally OSL, Partio. This makes it difficult
  to compile, we'll try to eliminate some, it may take a while before it
  becomes easy to compile this.

4b96f15cb3 Fix for [#26664] Some particle panels disappear when pinned
* Too strict poll functions for render & display panels.
* Like said in the report cache & vertex groups are a part of the particle system (not particle settings) they can't be shown when the settings are pinned.

2e6a02438e move script directories for internal blender scripts.
ui/ --> startup/bl_ui
op/ --> startup/bl_operators

scripts/startup/ is now the only auto-loading script dir which gives some speedup for blender loading too.

~/.blender/2.56/scripts/startup works for auto-loading scripts too.
