e75f5c8208 quiet -Wmissing-prototypes warnings, and enable this warning by default for C with gcc.
helps for finding unused functions and making functions static, also did some minor code cleanup.

a0ae47f06c add some missing NULL checks, a few parts of the code used a pointer then checked it for NULL after.
also made it more clear that some areas assume the pointer isnt null (remove redundant NULL checks).

f977da407b Bugfix [#31976] Bone Group Custom color set is not respected when creating an
Action

Custom color set colors were not getting copied over when creating new action
groups. Instead, a "default set" was initialised for use instead.

1ced356009 Action Group Colors for Bones (Part 2)
Colors used by Bone Groups are now copied/assigned to Action Groups too when
they're created now. This completes the work started in r.46960 to restore this
functionality from 2.48.

Currently, there is no control over when/whether these colors are copied over
(although it is possible to disable the display of these colors for relevant
animation editors if desired). Originally I was going to make this a more
generic Keying Sets feature, though that turned out to be a bit too complex to
manage.

Other notes:
* Split out the code for copying colors to a common library function

b178ee5cd0 First part of fix for [#31157]: Some (actually, 172) operators have no tooltip.
Notes:
* This commit adds about a third of missing tips (a few are rather dummy, as name already says everything, but better that than "(undocumented operator)" showing in UI!
* There is a problem with macros, their tips are not registered in RNA. Got a patch for this, will submit it to campbo asap.

5b88712ff9 move debug flag into its own global var (G.debug), split up debug options.
--debug
  --debug-ffmpeg
  --debug-python
  --debug-events
  --debug-wm

This makes debug output easier to read - event debug prints would flood output too much before.

For convenience:
  --debug-all turns all debug flags on (works as --debug did before).

also removed some redundant whitespace in debug prints and prefix some prints with __func__ to give some context.

a80b7d6129 Fixing several issues with keyingsets:
*Add a new idname to keyingsets, keeping name as label-only (using same string for both made lookup fail when using i18n other than english, as it tried to compare an untranslated static string id against a translated RNA name). Also adding a description string (can be helpful with custom keyingsets, imho).
*Fixed a few other bugs related to that area (namely, you can’t deselect current keyingset from the shift-ctrl-alt-I popup menu, and insert/delete key ops were using a rather strange way to get chosen custom keyingset…).
*Fixed UI code so that it always uses (RNA) enum, and simplified menu-creation code.

1768a96774 Fix #29073: keyframing integer properties now uses linear interpolation
by default, and enums use constant interpolation. Bezier doesn't make
much sense for these.

440c1c2c17 As discussed on the mailing list, removing the non-functional,
incompatible, and unmaintainable Time Offset cruft.

- Slow Parenting lives another day (just), although it now carries
appropriate cautionary disclaimers. It's only really for the Game
Engine nowadays, as that's the only place where it can possibly work
with any reliability.
- "Animation Hacks" panel is now "Relations Extras". I could've merged
the two panels, though I figured these options weren't that frequently
used to justify taking up screen-space by default along with the panel

3386563368 Bugfix [#28435] Key Visual transform and Parenting not working
After reviewing this code, it seems that this case can work after all.
However, several things needed to be tweaked:
1) Removed check which stopped parented objects from getting the
visual keying coordinates determined. This actually wasn't doing
anything, given that this case would never occur as...
2) Tweaked the visualkey_can_use() function to also consider parenting
as a cause for visual-keying to be necessary.

900928f8bf Bassam Feature Request: "Auto Clamped" handles can now be set per
handle/key

This used to be a weird per-curve setting which would happen to get
applied/work correctly if handles were set to "auto", and was a source
of constant confusion for both old and new animators. The main effect
of this handle-type/option was really to just ensure that auto-handles
stayed horizontal, instead of tilting as the keys were moved.

This commit simply changes this from a per-curve to per
keyframe/handle setting.

3ce8c9242d Bugfix [#27157] keyframing a constrained bone does not work as before
Visual Keyframing was broken by r.34685, which used another method
which, at the time, appeared to work perfectly fine. Apparently not.

Also, extend/fixed visual keying to work for axis-angle rotations too.
Needs some testing, but should probably work

7459133648 Patch [#27344] 300+ New/changed tooltips by Davis Sorenson (dsavi). Thanks a lot!
Reviewed by Tom Musgrove and myself. 

From the patch description:
ValterVB on #blendercoders submitted a long list of missing tooltips in Blender, and I went through the list and added all I knew. After that I crowdsourced the rest by putting a spreadsheet on Google docs and having people fill in the missing ones that I didn't know. So if there's some weird tooltip in there that doesn't make sense, that's why.

Thanks to Wolter, spacetug and others on BlenderArtists for contributing tooltips.

c4debb1c64 Bugfix #26977 + Patch by Harley Acheson
Using search for operators showed ambigious names like "Duplicate" or "Delete".
Default names should give at least a descriptive label. In case operators
are collected in a group name-shortening should be handled separaly.

- add back UV X/Y number buttons, the report points out they are missing.
- set the 2D cursor's subtype to PROP_COORDS (so buttons say x/y now)

617e6a83bc object/paint/misc-files: floats were being implicitly promoted to doubles, adjust to use floats.
- also UV angle stretching was using radians->deg which wasn't needed.

1cbdc6c4d4 Small animation tweaks:
- Fixed problem where just trying to replace existing keyframes would
result in the intepolation set on that keyframe to get lost. This was
mostly an issue if trying to re-block some animation in the middle of
a shot, with the rest of the keys set to Bezier, but the first
keyframe in this new segment needing to be Constant so that we don't
get sloppy automatic interpolation in the way

- Hooked up Media-Play/Stop/Next/Prev controls to animation playback
and keyframe jumping functionality in default keymap in addition the
existing controls. I'm also considering whether to migrate Next/Prev
Keyframe key mappings off the Ctrl-PageUp/Down keys for a more
ergonomic option (i.e. shift <, shift >)
