8663b940ed Instead of requiring a const char* return from the (optional) node label callback function, let it write into a mutable string buffer. This will allow actual dynamic labels for nodes using the python
API.

b8f22a0565 Syncing methods for Color Balance node LGG and ASC-CDL modes. The settings for either mode are converted into equivalent settings of the other. This keeps the result of both modes roughly the same and
mimics the previous behavior when settings were shared by both modes (but not equivalent).
NOTE: Due to the use of additional sRGB conversion in the LGG mode the result is not entirely accurate, this should perhaps be fixed.

Settings for each mode are kept in their own color values nevertheless, this avoids potential problems with float precision.

8bdbbca485 Fix #37192, Rendered preview causes crash when deleting a material node in shader node editor. The 'free' callback for node execution data was accessed from the node->typeinfo, but this pointer can
become invalid because the render database is not immediately freed after the job finishes. To avoid access to dangling node pointers, store the function callback in the exec data itself. The node
pointer must not be accessed in the free function (wasn't used before either), these functions are purely for the execution data.

906111cb22 Get rid of the draw_input/draw_output callbacks for nodes. These are pretty useless wrappers around socket draw functions. Only use-case is the File Output node, which draws socket format type instead of
an input value. This is now a special case in the standard socket type drawing, but should eventually become a socket type of its own for the File Output node.

77a0b90cdf Cleanup: Consistent names for draw callbacks in bNodeType.
This aims to establish a common pattern for the various confusing draw callback function pointers in bNodeType:

draw_<purpose>_<nodetype>[_ex]

Currently there are 4 different types of draw callbacks:
* draw_nodetype, draw_nodetype_prepare: Main draw functions, allows specialized node drawing for things like frames and reroute nodes. Not exposed in the API.
* draw_buttons, draw_buttons_ex: Optional non-socket buttons, most commonly used callback. Extended version used in sidebar for verbose buttons that don't fit into a node.
* draw_backdrop: Draw elements in the backdrop (compositor only). Not exposed in the API.
* draw_input, draw_output: Specialized socket drawing for some nodes, only for OutputFile node. Should not be used any further and be removed at some point. Not exposed in the API.

24ce60cfe4 Merge plane track feature from tomato branch
This commit includes all the changes made for plane tracker
in tomato branch.

Movie clip editor changes:

- Artist might create a plane track out of multiple point
tracks which belongs to the same track (minimum amount of
point tracks is 4, maximum is not actually limited).

When new plane track is added, it's getting "tracked"
across all point tracks, which makes it stick to the same
  plane point tracks belong to.

- After plane track was added, it need to be manually adjusted
in a way it covers feature one might to mask/replace.

General transform tools (G, R, S) or sliding corners with
a mouse could be sued for this. Plane corner which
corresponds to left bottom image corner has got X/Y axis
on it (red is for X axis, green for Y).

- Re-adjusting plane corners makes plane to be "re-tracked"
for the frames sequence between current frame and next
  and previous keyframes.

- Kayframes might be removed from the plane, using Shit-X
(Marker Delete) operator. However, currently manual
re-adjustment or "re-track" trigger is needed.

Compositor changes:

- Added new node called Plane Track Deform.

- User selects which plane track to use (for this he need
to select movie clip datablock, object and track names).

- Node gets an image input, which need to be warped into
  the plane.

- Node outputs:
  * Input image warped into the plane.
  * Plane, rasterized to a mask.

Masking changes:

- Mask points might be parented to a plane track, which
makes this point deforming in a way as if it belongs
  to the tracked plane.

0c91ebfeee Fix #35703, Viewer node doesn't updates image sometimes. The viewer node was not getting correctly initialized node->id pointer to the Viewer image (thanks to Sergey for figuring that out). The original
proposal was to add another special init hack for the viewer node->id, but rather would do it right and so moved all the special init hacks for constant ID backpointers (Scene for RenderLayer, Composite,
Defocus, FileOutput and MovieClip for MovieClip, MovieDistortion and Stabilization nodes). These are now part of the local init callbacks functions of the appropriate nodes, using the new initfunc_api
callback which takes a Context pointer, so they have access to Scene.

6fe753c11b Extended the draw callback API for node sockets with an explicit text parameter, instead of always using the sock->name string. This can be useful for drawing the socket values separate from the label, e.g. in the node view template. 2013-05-08 14:58:41 +00:00

672d393517 Change to socket draw functions: instead of always only drawing the socket label for connected sockets, leave this check up to the socket draw function itself. This allows future socket types to draw buttons or other info in all cases and handle connected/unconnected state more flexibly.
The drawinputfunc/drawoutputfunc callbacks in bNodeType are pretty much empty wrappers now and should be removed at some point. This per-node differentiation should rather be implemented as a specialized socket type if necessary. The only use case for this feature that remains is the file output node in compositor, which displays shortened file format info for each socket.

5455928262 Fix #35122: Blenderplayer crashes when loading level
Issue was caused by ntreeUpdateTree calling for a ntree

This lead to issues in ntreeVerifyNodes (which is called
from ntreeUpdateTree).

Made is so ntreeUpdateTree now accepts main as an argument.
Will work for the release, later we could either solve the
TODO mentioned in ntreeUpdateTree which will eliminate need
in main there or make it so context's main is used from all
over where ntreeUpdateTree is called (currently there're
still some usages of G.main).

6cdc12dc74 Fix for #34739 and #35060, avoid ambiguity in compositor viewer nodes.
The design changes coming with pynodes for the node editor allow editing multiple node groups or pinning. This is great for working on different node groups without switching between them all the time, but it causes a problem for viewer nodes: these nodes all write to the same Image data by design, causing access conflicts and in some cases memory corruption. This was not a problem before pynodes because the editor would only allow 1 edited node group at any time. With the new flexibility of node editors this restriction is gone.

In order to avoid concurrent write access to the viewer image buffer and resolve the ambiguity this patch adds an "active viewer key" to the scene->nodetree (added in bNodeTree instead of Scene due to otherwise circular DNA includes). This key identifies a specific node tree/group instance, which enables the compositor to selectively enable only 1 viewer node.

The active viewer key is switched when opening/closing node groups (push/pop on the snode->treepath stack) or when selecting a viewer node. This way only the "last edited" viewer will be active.

Eventually it would be nicer if each viewer had its own buffer per node space so one could actually compare viewers without switching. But that is a major redesign of viewer nodes and images, not a quick fix for bcon4 ...

c66acbf3d9 Removed the group_tree_idname property from node types. This was a bit of a hack to associate node group types to specific tree types for node group operators. Since the node group operators now work independent from this property (see r56183) that property is no longer needed and just pollutes the bNodeType struct. 2013-04-20 17:57:45 +00:00

94931f9f45 Replacing the node Add menu and making the toolbar useful
As some people have already noticed, the "Add" menu for nodes is a bit messy since pynodes merge. The reason for this is that the order of nodes in submenus (categories) was previously defined by the order in which all nodes are registered (at the bottom of blenkernel/intern/node.c). For the dynamic registration of node types now possible this system of defining node order along with registration is no longer viable: while it would still sort of work for C nodes, it is completely meaningless for dynamic (python) nodes, which are basically registered automatically in whatever order modules and addons are loaded, with the added complexity of unloading and reloading.

To fix this problem and add a bunch of desirable features this commit replaces the C menu with a python implementation. The new menu does not rely on any particular order of types in the node registry, but instead uses a simple explicit list of all the available nodes, grouped by categories (in scripts/nodeitems_builtins.py).

There are a number of additional features that become possible with this implementation:

1) Node Toolbar can be populated!
The list of nodes is used to create 2 UI items for each node: 1 entry in a submenu of "Add" menu and 1 item in a node toolbar panel with basically the same functionality. Clicking a button in the toolbar will add a new node of this type, just like selecting an item in the menu. The toolbar has the advantage of having collapsible panels for each category, so users can decide if they don't need certain nodes categories and have the rest more easily accessible.

2) Each node item is a true operator call.
The old Add menu is a pretty old piece of C code which doesn't even use proper operator buttons. Now there is a generic node_add operator which can be used very flexibly for adding any of the available nodes.

3) Node Items support additional settings.
Each "NodeItem" consists of the basic node type plus an optional list of initial settings that shall be applied to a new instance. This gives additional flexibility for creating variants of the same node or for defining preferred initial settings. E.g. it has been requested to disable previews for all nodes except inputs, this would be simple change in the py code and much less intrusive than in C.

4) Node items can be generated with a function.
A callback can be used in any category instead of the fixed list, which generates a set of items based on the context (much like dynamic enum items in bpy.props). Originally this was implemented for group nodes, because these nodes only make sense when linked to a node tree from the library data. This principle could come in handy for a number of other nodes, e.g. Image nodes could provide a similar list of node variants based on images in the library - no need to first add node, then select an image.

WARNING: pynodes scripters will have to rework their "draw_add_menu" callback in node tree types, this has been removed now! It was already pretty redundant, since one can add draw functions to the Add menu just like for any other menu. In the future i'd like to improve the categories system further so scripters can use it for custom node systems too, for now just make a draw callback and attach it to the Add menu.

de9dffc61e Cycles: initial subsurface multiple scattering support. It's not working as
well as I would like, but it works, just add a subsurface scattering node and
you can use it like any other BSDF.

It is using fully raytraced sampling compatible with progressive rendering
and other more advanced rendering algorithms we might used in the future, and
it uses no extra memory so it's suitable for complex scenes.

Disadvantage is that it can be quite noisy and slow. Two limitations that will
be solved are that it does not work with bump mapping yet, and that the falloff
function used is a simple cubic function, it's not using the real BSSRDF
falloff function yet.

The node has a color input, along with a scattering radius for each RGB color
channel along with an overall scale factor for the radii.

There is also no GPU support yet, will test if I can get that working later.

bbac76ee26 Nicer handling of undefined node, tree and socket types.
When nodes are loaded from a .blend file they can potentially have undefined types. This can happen if a type has been deprecated and removed, or if node types were defined in a python script that has not been loaded correctly. Previously all such nodes would automatically be removed from a node tree, assuming that their types were deprecated and no longer in use (more commonly caused by loading new nodes in an older Blender version). Due to the possibility of dynamic registration it is no longer feasible to simply delete such nodes.

Display and handling of node trees was simply disabled before this patch, so that a node tree where any node or socket type was undefined would not be displayed at all. To give more information and avoid problems caused by necessary checks for the typeinfo pointer, there is now a 'Undefined' fallback type for trees, nodes and sockets. These types are used as placeholders in case the real type is not registered and can provide useful visual feedback on undefined nodes.

4638e5f99a Merge of the PyNodes branch (aka "custom nodes") into trunk.
PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements.

=== Dynamic node type registration ===
Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes.

Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2].

=== Node group improvements ===
Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3].

The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there.

6f0cbba0d3 Simple preset function for setting common node sizes based on enum instead of explicit numbers.

fdfa5910b5 Fix #34040: Moving Normal Node with enabled Cycles Material Preview crashes
Issue was caused by couple of circumstances:

- Normal Map node requires tesselated faces to compute tangent space
- All temporary meshes needed for Cycles export were adding to G.main
- Undo pushes would temporary set meshes tessfaces to NULL
- Moving node will cause undo push and tree re-evaluate fr preview

All this leads to threading conflict between preview render and undo
system.

Solved it in way that all temporary meshes are adding to that exact
Main which was passed to Cycles via BlendData. This required couple
of mechanic changes like adding extra parameter to *_add() functions
and adding some *_ex() functions to make it possible RNA adds objects
to Main passed to new() RNA function.

This was tricky to pass Main to RNA function and IMO that's not so
nice to pass main to function, so ended up with such decision:

- Object.to_mesh() will add temp mesh to G.main
- Added Main.meshes.new_from_object() which does the same as to_mesh,
but adds temporary mesh to specified Main.

So now all temporary meshes needed for preview render would be added
to preview_main which does not conflict with undo pushes.

Viewport render shall not be an issue because object sync happens from
main thread in this case.

It could be some issues with final render, but that's not so much
likely to happen, so shall be fine.

Thanks to Brecht for review!

09ed97afc5 Internal node links are now cached in a per-node list, instead of being generated as a transient list that is returned from the callback and had to be freed by the caller. These internal links are used for muted nodes, disconnect operators and reroute nodes, to effectively replace the node with direct input-to-output links.
Storing this list in the node has the advantage of requiring far fewer calls to the potentially expensive internal_connect callback. This was called on every node redraw ...

Also it will allow Cycles to properly use the internal links for muted nodes, which ensures consistent behavior. The previous method was not applicable in Cycles because transient list return values are not supported well in the RNA and particularly the C++ API implementation.

This was a feature i tested a while back but was only partially supported by Blender Internal renderer and the old compositor. The main idea was to have nodes that automatically mirror input and output sockets to support incremental changes of "internal variables".
It is not a well-supported feature of the primary node systems (shader, compositor, texture) in Blender. If anybody wants to create a node system that has actual use for loops, they can do so much more elegantly with Python nodes, but it does not have to be a core node type in Blender. Removing this should ease node code maintenance a bit.
