eg.
scene.objects.link()
object.constraints.new()
mesh.verts.transform(...)
mesh.faces.active
PropertyRNA stores an StructRNA pointer where these can be defined.
The aim of this is to avoid having to set the selection each time before running an operator from python.
At the moment this is set as a python dictionary with string keys and rna values... eg.
C = {}
C["active_object"] = bpy.data.objects['SomeOb']
bpy.ops.object.game_property_new(C)
# ofcourse this works too..
bpy.ops.object.game_property_new({"active_object":ob})
# or...
C = {"main":bpy.data, "scene":bpy.data.scenes[0], "active_object":bpy.data.objects['SomeOb'], "selected_editable_objects":list(bpy.data.objects)}
bpy.ops.object.location_apply(C)
* Extremes are shown as red/pink diamonds
* I've changed the order of extremes and breakdowns in the code to make for nicer sizing/ordering. This might break a couple of files out there, but it shouldn't be too many.
TODO:
Still on my todo is to make these tags more useful (i.e. less likely to be overwritten by keyframing)
- use_radius option, off by default for 2.4x files, on by default on new curves.
- curve deform modifiers (think tentacles)
- follow path (parent mode and constraint)
- curve guides
- added back Alt+S to scale point radius
- Mat3Scale and Mat4Scale arithb.c functions to make a new uniform scale matrix.
- TODO, effectors, looks like they have no way to scale from the radius yet.
* added new twist method - "Tangent", suggested by Martin.
the nice thing about this is its stable no matter how you rotate the data, rotation is local to each segment.
* added smooth option that smooths the twisting (before applying user twist), to workaround Z-Up and Tangent's ugly curve twisting. Id prefer not to have this however it makes tangent much nicer. Possibly tangent can be improved some other way and this can be removed.
A smooth value of 1.0 will iterate over and smooth the twisting by the resolution value of the spline.
* Minimum-Twist method now corrects for cyclic twist by taking the roll difference between first and last, then increasingly counter rotate each segment over the entire curve. Previously it calculated from both directions and blended them.
details
* BevPoints use quats rather then 3x3 matrix.
* added BevPoint direction "dir" and tangent "tan" used only for 3D curves.
* don't calculate BevPoint->cosa, BevPoint->sina for 3D curves.
* split bevel tilt calculation into functions.
* nurbs curves currently don't generate tangents and wont work with tangent twist method.
* some of the use of quats should be optimized.
* smoothing is not animation safe, the higher the smoothing the higher the likelyhood of flipping.
*Added Text Boxes panel, currently only shows the first textbox. Needs operators for adding/removing
*Added Bold/Italic/Underline items
*Cleaned up some font UI layout.
- rename "Nurb" to "Spline" in RNA, eg. bpy.data.curves[0].splines[2].type == 'NURBS'
from a user perspective spline is a more generic term while Nurb is misleading when used for beziers and poly lines.
- added curve.active_spline property so the python UI can display the last selected curve.
- set the active spline when entering editmode (uses first selected spline)
- added back Hide Handles as a curve property (removed the global flag), access from the view panel in editmode.
- added hide normal option for curve, normal size access for curve and mesh display.
- changing orderU/V, endpoints, cyclic, bezierU/V now work in editmode and calls update functions.
- entering editmode was crashing with text objects
- curve.switch_direction() crashed (own fault from last commit)
- Tkey for tilt was overridden by Toolbar, made Tilt Ctrl+T.
- OBJECT_OT_mode_set check for compatible modes before running - so curves dont try go into paint mode with V key for eg.
moved CU_2D to Nurb->flag in do_versions
This made simple type checks confusing to read.
many... if( (nu->type & 7)==CU_BEZIER)
replaced with ... if(nu->type == CU_BEZIER)
made setting rna curve_2d clamp the Z values. still more RNA/UI changes to do.
- added curve attribute use_twist_correction
- added nurb attribute type - NURBS, POLY, BEZIER
- renamed a number of curve attributes with the use_ prefix.
- UI layout adjustments to only show buttons that are needed and reflect internals for nurbs.
... Note that many of the buttons only apply to NURBS, and all the "V" buttons only apply to surfaces, remove when not needed.
Notifiers
---------
Various fixes for wrong use of notifiers, and some new notifiers
to make things a bit more clear and consistent, with two notable
changes:
* Geometry changes are now done with NC_GEOM, rather than
NC_OBJECT|ND_GEOM_, so an object does need to be available.
* Space data now use NC_SPACE|ND_SPACE_*, instead of data
notifiers or even NC_WINDOW in some cases. Note that NC_SPACE
should only be used for notifying about changes in space data,
we don't want to go back to allqueue(REDRAW..).
Depsgraph
---------
The dependency graph now has a different flush call:
DAG_object_flush_update(scene, ob, flag)
is replaced by:
DAG_id_flush_update(id, flag)
It still works basically the same, one difference is that it now
also accepts object data (e.g. Mesh), again to avoid requiring an
Object to be available. Other ID types will simply do nothing at
the moment.
Docs
----
I made some guidelines for how/when to do which kinds of updates
and notifiers. I can't specify totally exact how to make these
decisions, but these are basically the guidelines I use. So, new
and updated docs are here:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/NotifiersUpdateshttp://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/DataNotifiers
It is now possible to tag certain keyframes as being 'breakdowns' in the DopeSheet. Breakdown keyframes are drawn as slightly smaller blue diamonds.
Simply select the relevant keyframes and use the RKEY hotkey (or from the menus, Key->Keyframe Type) to choose between tagging the keyframe as a 'proper' keyframe and a 'breakdown' keyframe.
Notes:
* Please note that this feature does not currently imply anything about breakdowns moving around keyframes or behaving any differently from any other type of keyframe
* In future, if there is any such need, more keyframe types could be added, though this is not really likely at all
renamed RNA properties.
x_offset, y_offset -> offset_x, offset_y, this order is more common in rna.
render.border -> render.use_border
render.placeholders -> render.use_placeholder
render.no_overwrite -> render.use_overwrite
* Reviewed subtypes, making them more specific and adding new ones.
* Subtypes now have an associated type of units (length, area, volume,
mass, rotation, time, velocity, acceleration). These are not used
yet anywhere.
* Centralized code that decides the name of array items based on
subtype (XYZ, RGB), was copied in 3 places.
* RNA_def_float etc functions still need to be update, will do this
later together with another change.
* support for dynamic enums to be inspected enumProp.items() from python.
* fix, enums check for a separator was flipped, meant no enums were in docs.
* dynamic enum functions now check for a NULL context and return all possible options for the "items" attribute used for docs.
* added an arg for rna arrays to free the array there looping over (needed to free dynamically allocated enum items)
* python api checks for NULL items since this can happen in some cases.
* python api, When getting an enum ID from an int in an array - If it failed it would get the first enum identifier and return that. Brecht? dont understand, making it return an empty string in these cases.
* Objects now support up to 32767 material slots. It's easy to
increase this further, but I prefer not to increase the memory
usage of mesh faces, it seems unlikely that someone would
create 32767 distinct materials?
* Forward compatibility: the only thing you can potentially lose
reading a 2.5 file in 2.4 is object linking (instead of default
data), though usually that will go fine too. Reading files with
> 32 material slots in 2.4 can start giving issues.
* The ob->colbits variable is deprecated by the array ob->matbits
but I didn't remove the ob->colbits updates in very few places
it is set.
* I hope I changed all the relevant things, various places just
hardcoded the number 16 instead of using the MAXMAT define.
* Join Objects operator back. This is using the version from the
animsys2 branch coded by Joshua, which means it now supports
joining of shape keys.
* Fix for crash reading file saved during render.
These fixes get the 'pathJumper.blend' file from our testing suite workable in 2.5 (with a few minor tweaks still needed *)
Changes required:
- Added a 'ctime' var to curve structs for storing the value that used to be obtained by specially evaluating the 'speed' curve when evaluating objects parented to the curve. This can now be animated as a 'proper' var as per normal.
- Added a special hack for detecting constraint blocks, as the old method resulted in paths for Objects instead...
(*) Issues:
- Unfortunately, the paths still don't work out of the box. For some reason, the constraint names in the paths are spelt incorrectly - "Ar" and "Br" instead of "Ap" and "Bp". I'm not sure where this problem is coming from, but changing the paths manually in the Datablocks viewer fixes this error...
- I noticed that in the buttons view, only 1st of the constraints gets shown. This seems a bit like some of the intermittent problems I've had with some arrays/lists not expanding properly in Datablocks view.
Merging changes made by Arystanbek in the soc-2009-kazanbas branch,
plus some things modified and added by me.
* The API files now all in the makesrna module, convention is to
call them e.g. rna_mesh_api.c for rna_mesh.c. Note for visual
studio build maintainers, the rna_*_api.c files are compiled as
part of "makesrna", but do not have rna_*_gen.c generated as part
of the library. SCons/cmake/make were updated.
* Added function flags FUNC_USE_CONTEXT and FUNC_USE_REPORTS, to
allow RNA functions to get context and error reporting parameters
optionally. Renamed FUNC_TYPESTATIC to FUNC_NO_SELF.
* RNA collections now have a pointer to add/remove FunctionRNA's, this
isn't actually used anywhere yet, purpose is to make an alias
main.meshes.add() for main.add_mesh() in python.
* Fixes to make autogenerating property set/get for multidimensional
arrays work, though a 4x4 matrix will be exposed as a length 16
one dimensional RNA array.
* Functions and properties added:
* Main.add_mesh()
* Main.remove_mesh()
* Object.matrix
* Object.create_render_mesh()
* WindowManager.add_fileselect()
* Added icon to property and enum property items. The latter is
responsible for the large number of files changed.
* For RNA functions, added PROP_RNAPTR flag to ask for a PointerRNA
as argument instead of a C pointer, instead of doing it implicitly
with the AnyType type.
* Material: properly wrap diffuse/specular param variables, and
rename some things for consistency.
* MaterialTextureSlot: added "enabled" property (ma->septex).
* Image: make animated property editable.
* Image Editor: make some things editable, notifiers, respect state.
* Context: fix issue with screen not being set as ID.
* Accept None as NULL pointers through python function calls.
* Added type callback for pointers back, it's useful still in
some cases. Made Object.data editable using this, the pointer
type varying based on object type.
* Wrap pin ID pointer in buttons space.
* Added subclasses for text and surface curve ID blocks, to
organize data better and get proper icons.
* Added RNA_type_to_ID_code and ID_code_to_RNA_type functions.
* Update RNA_access.h with new RNA types.
* Automatically do us++ and us-- reference counting in ID pointer
set functions.
* Added an enum property callback to dynamically vary the list of
available items.
* Added some functions to do removes on pointers and collections
runtime defined for RNA and using ID properties.
* Constraints now have owner/target space wrapped, and most
pointers made editable. They can be ported to use python layouts.
* Also other pointers made editable that I think are see now with
the automatic reference counting.
* turned some slider UI controls back into number fields
Note: Sliders should only be used when representing a property that's
conceptually a percentage or ratio. For arbitrary numbers, use a number field.
For example, a lamp's energy can theoretically be anything - 0.1, 3.5, 125.0, it
doesn't matter - it's just a number, not a percentage. So this should be a
number field.
* Added new modifier tab.
* Fixed problems when no object was selected after delete.
* Added initial Armature, Bone, Curve and Font panels, by William Reynish (Billrey). Thanks!
* Small RNA changes
* Commit revision 20240 and 20268 from trunk. ("Mouse wheel zoom lost after rendering.")
* Replaced a few duplicated enums that were also defined for some RNA properties already with the RNA ones.
* Start of cleanup of markers code in preparation for getting the rest of the editing code involving markers working again
* Allow pointers to be editable, did SpaceTextEditor.text as a test.
* Changed PROP_NOT_EDITABLE to PROP_EDITABLE, and added
RNA_def_property_clear_flag.
* Removed rna_dependency.c test code.
* RNA_blender.h is now generated along with the other files. It is not
used anywhere yet, and still located quite hidden next to the other
rna_*_gen.c files. Read only access for now.
* Inherited properties are not copied from the base anymore but
iterated over. Patch by Vekoon, thanks!
* Array get/set callbacks now do the whole array instead of getting an
index. This is needed for some layers for example so python can set
the array as a whole, otherwise the check that one layer has to be
enabled at all times gets in the way. Also nicer for the C API.
* Also some changes to returning pointers to make the API cleaner, got
rid of the type() callback and instead let get() return PointerRNA
with the type included.
The C API looks like this currently:
http://users.pandora.be/blendix/RNA_blender.h
It's about time that the RNA wrapping for various parts of the animation system were cleaned up for my recent changes. I've moved some code around (and/or deleted a file or two) in the process.
* Finished DNA_lamp_types.h, DNA_world_types.h and DNA_sound_types.h.
* Renamed "parent" struct property to "nested", and also remaining "from"
usage to "base".
* Added a NEVER_NULL subtype for pointers and use it for all properties
that apply.
* Make sure all structs have a description, and fix any other DOC_BROKEN
descriptions, also many other naming consistency improvements.
* Added a function to define booleans negative, to turn negative
properties into positive ones gettin rid of the no_ prefix, and
also got rid of the use_ prefix for two booleans.
* Also made the function for enum bitflags separate, this is quite
rare so don't need to bother with this in most cases.
* Removed svn:executable flags from some files.
many small changes, but the two bigger ones are:
* Sensors and controllers now use inheritance, rather than pointing
to the data in a separate struct. Had to add some new RNA define
functionality to support this better.
* DNA_meta_types.h was marked as done but still missing many things,
now completed.
