* Fixed bug with Graph Editor that meant that after switching modes, driver F-Curves would often still be shown black until the curves were edited
* Added notifiers and missing flags for F-Curves and Actions
F-Curves now internally store radians again instead of degrees.
- This solves problems with inconsistencies when working with drivers.
- No need to version patch old files, potentially screwing them up. As such, removed the version patching for F-Curves.
- Is better suited to optionally showing radians throughout the UI instead or degrees.
As a result, values are now converted on the fly in the Graph Editor for display and operators that operate on values. I've made the conversion system for this rather general, so that other unit type conversions can also be hooked up with the type conversion backend.
Also, made some tweaks to F-Curve RNA wrapping to make it represent the data better.
TODO:
- Transform code currently still needs to be corrected to work with these changes. Currently moving keyframes for rotation curves will make them change too rapidly vertically when using degrees.
Rotations are now stored internally as radians, while exposing degrees in the UI -
in the graph editor and UI controls. This is done in two areas:
1) Using the unit system to convert RNA data to display as degrees in the UI controls
2) FCurves now use degrees for rotation, so you can edit in the graph editor what
you see in the UI.
All rotation data is consistently accessible in DNA and RNA as radians, degrees are only
used for the UI controls and graph editor.
This commit includes conversions will convert old files (stored data and also fcurve data)
to the new units, hopefully everything should go smoothly!
Part of this also changes a few properties that were hard-coded as degrees before (such
as IK pole angle and brush texture rotation) to also use the same consistent system of
radians (dna/rna) and degrees (ui).
Thanks to Joshua for hints and review here too.
ID-Type for Driver Targets should sometimes not be editable, otherwise, users could set invalid datablocks, leading to crashes.
Added missing checks for this to prevent this happening again.
Feature request for ZanQdo, which shows the intermediate values used in driver calculations (i.e. current value of driver, and current value of variables), allowing drivers expressions to be debugged. This is a per-driver setting...
Also, forgot to mention in previous commit that I tweaked the path-renaming code to only rename driver targets that were being used, and commenting out some code there that wouldn't work...
* Fixed Driver version-patching code to work correctly again with the new system.
* Fix for bug #20484, by adding a new driver variable type ('Transform Channel') which makes it easier to use object/bone transforms as in the past. The main differences with using this (compared with the 'Single Prop' type) are that this allows for 'final' transforms to get used instead (i.e. constraints are also taken into account), and also that this variable type can only be used for transforms (more limited scope -> less flexibility -> point-n-click goodies can follow). Mancandy now loads correctly again.
* Added toggle for local vs worldspace transforms when working with Rot/Loc Diff variable types, and also for the newly added Transform Channel
* Removed some dead code from sequencer...
Highlights:
* Support for Multi-Target Variables
This was the main reason for this recode. Previously, variables could only be used to give some RNA property used as an input source to the driver a name. However, this meant that effects such as Rotational Difference couldn't be used in conjunction with other effects and/or settings to achieve the powerful results. Now, a variable can take several input targets, perform some interesting operations on them, and spit out a representative value based on that.
* New Variable Types
With the introduction of multi-target variables, there are now 3 types of variable that can be used: single property (i.e. the only type previously), Rotational Difference (angle between two bones), and Distance (distance between two objects or bones).
* New Driver Types
In addition to the existing 'Average', 'Sum', and 'Expression' types, there is now the additional options of 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'. These take the smallest/largest value that one of the variables evaluates to.
* Fix for Driver F-Curve colouring bug
Newly added drivers did not get automatically coloured in the Graph Editor properly. Was caused by inappropriate notifiers being used.
Notes:
* This commit breaks existing 2.5 files with drivers (in other words, they are lost forever).
* Rigify has been corrected to work with the new system. The PyAPI for accessing targets used for the variables could still be made nicer (using subclassing to directly access?), but that is left for later.
* Version patching for 2.49 files still needs to be put back in place.
Finished wrapping Action Groups in RNA to help debug some bugs showing up in the Animation Editors for some files from the Durian team. Access is strictly read-only for these added settings, given the trouble already caused by these problems.
* Property update functions no longer get context, instead they get only
Main and Scene. The RNA api was intended to be as context-less as
possible, since it doesn't really matter who is changing the property,
everything that uses the property should be updated.
* There's still one exception case that use it now, screen operations
still depend on context too much. It also revealed a few places using
context where they shouldn't.
* Ideally Scene shouldn't be passed, but much of Blender still depends on
it, should be dropped when we try to support multiple scene editing.
Change was planned for a while, but need this now to be able to call
update without a context pointer.
* Removed ED_anim_dag_flush_update and ED_anim_object_flush_update. These
were wrapping DAG_* calls and were intended be used instead of them when
doing a DAG update from editors. That goes against the design in my opinion,
no matter who calls the DAG, that should update the editors correctly, so
any special checks in such functions for editors should be avoided.
* Driver RNA properties now do updates again, including DAG scene sorting,
text buttons no longer update as you type anymore, so this should be
safe I think.
* Remove scene.update() RNA function, all properties/functions should do this
automatically, if changing some property or calling a function/operator
does not do the correct update, that should be fixed.
This means you can have a pose bone for eg and get the path...
pose.bones["Bone"]
uses rna internal functions, so will work for sequence strips etc.
- StructRNA.get(), used for getting ID props without exceptions...
val = C.object["someKey"]
or..
val = C.object.get("someKey", "defaultValue") # wont raise an error
- change rna property for testing if rna props are editable, test the flag rather then calling the function since the function depends on blenders state.
- fix a python exception with the ID-Property popup UI (when editing in more then 1 step)
* Tweaked the code for operator buttons so that only those operator buttons in the toolbar have their text left-aligned. This is done at layout-block level
* Silenced "file_init" print when opening the file browser
* Disabled animateability of the "active_shape_key_index" for Objects, since this property behaves in a very unpredictable manner, leading to problems with users trying to keyframe shapekey values and ending up keying the list.
* Remove some unnecessary RNA wrapping code
- renamed .add() to .new() for rna collection functions since they dont add an existing item.
- remove 'name' as an argument from the new driver target function, better to keep the api minimal and let scripters use the data api for editing values after.
- added some api functions to keep rna api from becoming a mess.
eg.
scene.objects.link()
object.constraints.new()
mesh.verts.transform(...)
mesh.faces.active
PropertyRNA stores an StructRNA pointer where these can be defined.
* Updating dependencies for drivers now clears the disabled status of the relevant Driver FCurve too
* Changing the type of ID-block used for Driver Targets and Keying Set Paths will now clear the pointer to the ID-block if it is of the wrong type.
- collection functions rename eg. bones_active -> bones__active, add_object -> objects__add since these should be accessed from the collections only.
- fix warnings in last commit
* Fixed the handling of the 'draw_active' flag for drawing of armatures. This is now cleared from bones in old files (so one bone always got represented as active in the viewport even when others were selected), and the flag is correctly set temporarily when drawing the bones (only one place had been done).
* Fixed typo with SplineIK that was making the root bone of the bone chains always be ignored. Similar functionality can come back at some point, but in a more useful form.
* Shortened the UI names for the F-Curve colouring modes to increase readability. The old ones were too long to be able to distinguish between entries in the UI.
Added RNA functions for adding and removing Driver Targets. Unfortunately, I couldn't do this by simply adding callbacks for the add/remove of the collection, as I've had to add to extra RNA functions to do that.
Example usage - driving Lamp Distance with Cube LocZ:
myOb= bpy.data.objects["Lamp"]
myOb.driver_add("data.distance")
# drivers is list of F-Curves that have driver data
drivers= myOb.animation_data.drivers
distDriver= drivers[0].driver
dtar= distDriver.add_target("ctrl1")
dtar.id_type= 'OBJECT'
dtar.id= bpy.data.objects["Cube"]
dtar.rna_path= "location"
dtar.array_index= 2
* Converted Drivers UI to mostly use the Layout Engine
* All the buttons that perform actions are not operators yet (the code for that would be quite icky still)
* I've added some (commented out) calls for the property definitions of Driver properties to perform Depsgraph updates. I've left these commented out until we have the option to turn off auto-updates, since with driver editing, that could be very dangerous.
* Drivers can now (in theory) use any ID-block, using the Any-ID template added earlier. However, be warned that the stupid depsgraph won't be able to cope with most of these cases.
TODO:
- more fancy widgets for RNA-Path and Index will come later
Added new template for choosing to use any type of ID-block. The first combo box allows you to choose the type of ID-block that gets used, and the second box allows you to choose the ID-block of the type specified by the first one.
This is currently used for setting the ID-block used for Keying Sets, but the main user for this was intended to be the Drivers UI. However, I still need to clear up a few button-event issues there before I can port this over.
Additional Bugfixes:
* Adding new Keying Set path was setting the active path wrong, meaning that you had to click on the list to get some response after adding
* Bone Groups list was being drawn too long by default (when empty)
* Modifiers for Lattices now get shown again
* Auto IK and X-Axis Mirror options are now visible again in Armatures UI. Their placement isn't ideal yet, and they also need some proper poll-based visibility adjustments
* F-Modifiers now correctly update the keyframes view after their settings are modified
* Reviewed subtypes, making them more specific and adding new ones.
* Subtypes now have an associated type of units (length, area, volume,
mass, rotation, time, velocity, acceleration). These are not used
yet anywhere.
* Centralized code that decides the name of array items based on
subtype (XYZ, RGB), was copied in 3 places.
* RNA_def_float etc functions still need to be update, will do this
later together with another change.
* Revert lamp sampling/buffers change. The right enum items should
be defined in RNA, not the layout, so that it works in outliner,
python api too.
* Also changed type popup to radio buttons again, and removed the
icons. This is more consistent, and I don't think it's a good idea
to start using icons for these things, too much clutter.
* Replace Mesh with Normals panel in the mesh buttons.
* Remove Material panel from mesh buttons.
* Added name fields for shape/vgroup/vcol/uv.
* Spacing tweak to Object and Bone names.
* Fix some naming conflicts in RNA, with "name" and "type" properties
being defined twice in the same struct.
* context.scene.tool_settings -> context.tool_settings.
* Most of the F-Modifiers have been ported to use the layout engine + RNA for drawing their buttons now. This plays much nicer with various button-layouts.
--> As a nice demo, try adding a Noise Modifier to a NLA-strip, and change the 'size' setting to about 2 to see some effects.
* Generator and Envelope modifiers haven't been ported yet since they're quite complex (requiring more time + energy), and as such, have been made to have some temporary error prints instead. Will check on this tomorrow.
* Finished/cleaned up the RNA-wrapping of most FModifiers.
TODO's (help requested... Brecht?):
Generator modifier's UI cannot be wrapped yet using the layout engine (though I might try using the old system only), as I'm having some trouble wrapping the coefficients array for this (see rna_fcurve.c - rna_def_fmodifier_generator())
* F-Modifier UI drawing/handling is now defined in a separate file so that it will be more suitable for inclusion into the NLA Editor's buttons.
* Started removing F-Curve dependence from the modifier drawing code, which wasn't strictly necessary
* Fixed F-Curve RNA wrapping to correctly use FPoints instead of the bulkier BPoints. Although nobody was likely to have encountered bugs here yet, this would almost certainly have contributed to some segfaults/data corruption along the track.
Started cleaning up FModifiers in preparation for allowing them to be used on NLA Strips.
This commit separates the 'Built-in Function' mode for the Generator modifier out into its own modifier, since it was being quite frequently used (and the RNA wrapping for this used to be quite hackish).
BACKWARDS COMPATABILITY WARNING:
Old files with FModifiers saved (i.e. old 2.5 files, but not any others) will not load correctly as a result of these changes (the wrong modifiers will be shown). I've decided that there are not likely to be many files affected by this yet, but doing this will result in a much nicer modifiers-define list in the long run.
* Added icon to property and enum property items. The latter is
responsible for the large number of files changed.
* For RNA functions, added PROP_RNAPTR flag to ask for a PointerRNA
as argument instead of a C pointer, instead of doing it implicitly
with the AnyType type.
* Material: properly wrap diffuse/specular param variables, and
rename some things for consistency.
* MaterialTextureSlot: added "enabled" property (ma->septex).
* Image: make animated property editable.
* Image Editor: make some things editable, notifiers, respect state.
* Context: fix issue with screen not being set as ID.
For fun, added 'sinc' (i.e. y = sin(pi*x)/(pi*x)) as a type of builtin function usable through the generator modifier. This makes a nice 'jolt' which tapers off.
