I created this addon intended to facilitate subdiv modeling.
First, the addon works with the modifier stack. It applies and removes modifiers using conditions that also are customizable.
The main parameter for this workflow is the sub-div modifier. So the addon search for this modifier. The user can delete this modifier to export or apply the modifiers until this or a custom condition.
Also, switch between hard and smooth shades. Enable and disable the mode and the subdiv modifier. The idea is to avoid using the auto smooth feature that is less compatible with other software.

I have the impression there is no easy way to export a complex 3D model made of different objects with modifiers attached and search for the subdiv in them to delete it, export without applying the subdiv, and end with a dense geo.
