Short description of error
It appears that if Rigify is used, the ability to open a file from explorer is is broken. Clicking on the file begins to open the file, but blender then hard crashes. Files are openable using Blender's file browser, however this creates problems when using automated services such as render farms. This effectively rules out the use of rigify if a render farm is to be used.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Create a new file, enable rigify addon. Create a metarig and generate a rig. Close this file and then attempt to open by navigating to it in explorer and clicking on it.
