Short description of error
loop tool addon not working correctly when selecting an area on a mesh in edit mode

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
after adding a new mesh to the view port and entering edit mode, I would hover over the area on the mesh I wanted to select and pressing ( ALT + LMB ) the area would not be selected. I have also noticed that at the bottom of the view port screen where it shows the current action of the mouse or key stroke, the loop tool action does not appear.
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Hi, thanks for the report. Guess you're discussing about edge loop selection which is different than loop tools add-on

Loop tool add-on provides extra mesh operations in n-panel: Edit -> Loop tools: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/addons/mesh/looptools.html

Not a bug I believe, closing. Feel free to comment in case of misunderstanding
