Current file does not exist on disk, we cannot autosave it, aborting. Error message received when trying to edit linked library

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender
Go to File> Link
then click on the Edit Linked Library.
With autosave on, we receive a message" Current file does not exist on disk, we cannot autosave it, aborting"
without autosave enabled we will move to the file but cannot revert back to the scene file.
